What started as a fun game of fetch turned into an unexpected vet visit for this sweet pup 🐾🪵

While chasing after a stick it unfortunately became lodged under this little one's tongue and caused a 15cm puncture wound which required emergency surgery for Dr Chloe to remove the stick safely, flush and suture the pocket closed. Sticks can splinter, puncture the mouth or throat, become stuck, and even lead to serious infections or injuries requiring sedation or surgery.

For safer playtime, we recommend swapping sticks for dog-safe toys designed for chewing and fetching 🦴🎾

If your pet suddenly starts pawing at their mouth, drooling, bleeding, refusing food, or seems painful after playing with a stick, please seek veterinary attention promptly.

Kelpie madness at our latest Puppy Preschool graduation 🐾💙

We are so proud to announce that Ajax, Posie, and Bronte have all officially passed their Puppy Preschool course with our Puppy Preschool Trainer and Head Veterinary Nurse Caitlin 🎓🐶

Over the past 5 weeks, these clever pups have come such a long way building confidence, learning critical socialisation skills, practicing respectful boundaries with other puppies, and mastering their training commands even with plenty of distractions around them!

One of the biggest achievements was watching them respond not only to their owners, but also confidently listen to commands from other handlers in the class 👏✨

We are so proud of all the puppies and their dedicated owners for all their hard work throughout the course. Well done graduates! 🐾

A female black kitten was found earlier today on Chatsworth Road near the childcare centre and has been brought safely into our care.

She is currently being looked after by our team while we try to locate her owners.

Is your pet showing signs of an upset tummy? 🐶💩

Gastrointestinal issues are not normal and can range from mild tummy troubles to signs of an underlying condition that may need veterinary attention. Symptoms can sometimes come and go, making them easy to overlook.

Keep an eye out for signs such as:
▫️ Vomiting
▫️ Diarrhoea
▫️ Excess gas
▫️ Eating grass frequently
▫️ Gurgling stomach noises
▫️ Weight loss or reduced appetite
▫️ Mucus in stools

If your pet has ongoing or recurring gastro symptoms, it’s best to have them checked by your veterinarian to help keep them happy, healthy, and comfortable 💙
