For a while, everybody thought I was slowing down.

I stopped playing with my favourite rope toy. I stopped chewing treats. I stopped carrying sticks home from walks.

Mum said I seemed quieter. Dad said I was probably just getting older.

Honestly, I started believing that too. The strange thing was that I was still eating my meals.

So nobody thought my teeth could be the problem.

Then one day, Mum noticed something. I'd stopped smiling in photos. Not literally, of course. I'm a dog. But she said my eyes looked different. Less sparkly. Less... me.

When the team at Animal Wellness checked my mouth, they found the real problem.

My teeth were hurting. Quite a lot, actually. Nobody knew. Not even me, really. I'd just gotten used to it.

After my dental treatment, something funny happened. I started carrying toys around the house again. Then I started chewing treats again. Then I stole one of Dad's socks and ran through the backyard with it.

Apparently that was a very emotional day.

The staff warned Mum this might happen. They said people often don't realise how much dental pain has been affecting their pet until the pain is gone.

I think they were right. These days I'm back to supervising the household properly.

The postman still can't be trusted. The neighbourhood birds remain suspicious. And breakfast is once again my highest priority.

So what actually happens when you book a dental with us?

Full-mouth x-rays. Every patient. Every time. We check every tooth, probe the gums, and chart what we find before we start. If a tooth needs to come out, we use local anaesthetic blocks and proper pain management.

Hi, I'm Molly ๐Ÿพ

For a while, nobody came to see me.

Every day I watched people walk past my kennel.

Some stopped for a moment. Most didn't.

I tried not to take it personally.

The staff told me I was beautiful, but I started to wonder if they were just being nice.

I wasn't a puppy anymore. I wasn't tiny. I wasn't the kind of dog people usually rush towards.

The team kept telling me to be patient. They said the right person was still out there.

Honestly, I wasn't so sure.

Then one afternoon, a lady came to meet me. She sat on the floor instead of standing over me. She talked to me like I mattered.

And for the first time in a very long time, I wagged my tail before she even touched me.

The staff all got excited. Apparently they knew something I didn't.

A week later, I went home. MY home.

I have my own bed now. My own toys. My own people.

Yesterday I fell asleep with my head on Mum's lap while she watched television.

The funny thing is, I spent so long waiting for someone to choose me.

Now I can't remember what it felt like to be unwanted.

The staff still get photos of me sometimes.

Mum says they're probably sick of them by now. They're not.

Stage 4 periodontal disease. Exposed roots. Dead teeth. FORL in cats. Overcrowding. Hair trapped between teeth causing gum damage.

This is probably the most common thing we hear from pet owners whose pets are living with pain.

Not because anyone missed something.

Because pain is often surprisingly quiet.

It doesnโ€™t always look like limping.

We hear this all the time from new puppy owners.

And honestly, it makes sense. Tiny puppies usually spend a lot of time at home before theyโ€™re fully vaccinated, so people naturally assume the risk is low.

But viruses like parvovirus donโ€™t politely wait until your puppy starts going to cafรฉs and puppy school.

They can survive in the environment for a very long time and can be carried on shoes, surfaces, grass, hands, and other dogs without people even realising.

Thatโ€™s why puppy vaccinations are such an important part of early protection.
