Our case of the week is an unfortunate one for those pets that have it... We're talking urinary issues!
With the wet weather that we have been having, we are seeing a high number of pets with both urinary track infections, crystals and bladder stones, and even blocked bladders. Although most conditions are uncomfortable for the pet, in some cases they are life threatening. The increase in cases can be put down to pets that are preferring to hold-on rather than venture outside to toilet during the rain. It can also be brought on be stressors such as visitors, a new pet to the household, or moving house as well as excess weight and a sedentary lifestyle. Signs to look out for in your pet include urinating more or less than normal (including a larger or smaller volume), urinating in strange places, or a pink or red tinge to the urine that could indicate blood. If your pet is straining to urinate or unable to urinate, this is a serious symptom that requires immediate veterinary care. Treatment is dependent on the condition so a visit with the vet is always recommended. As well as a physical examination, a fresh urine sample to test is ideal, so come prepared or see the team at arrival so that we can help you to obtain this.
If you have noticed your cat or dog showing any of these symptoms, call and have a chat with the team.

Today were were honoured by a pet-parent who we've had the pleasure of working with for around a decade. We will miss Quincy's excited and boisterous visits to our waiting room. She was certainly one in a million. πŸΆπŸ’–
