Did you know this adorable fluffy baby is actually what a juvenile red-tailed black cockatoo looks like? 🥹🖤

Fun fact: juvenile cockatoos often have darker eyes and softer, fluffier feathers than adults and many are super clingy because they stay close to their parents while learning how to explore the world! 🪺🌏

Many people don’t know that snakes have a ‘spectacle’ that covers their eyes, rather than having the ability to blink. This wild snake in care developed a retained spectacle. It had to be anaesthetised and delicately removed to ensure the health of the eye beneath. Thankfully globe is not damaged, and the snake will be able to be released! This specialised scale protects the eye and is usually shed off when a snake sheds its skin. Occasionally (often when other health issues are occurring) the scale is retained and stays over the eye rather than being shed off, and this can cause damage and irritation to the healthy spectacle and eye beneath. It is very delicate work to only remove the retained spectacle without damaging the eye! 🐍🥰

Enrichment is so important for our feathered friends! 🦜 It encourages natural behaviors like chewing, foraging, climbing, and exploring. Enrichment helps prevent boredom and keeps both their mind and body healthy! We are collaborating with stocking a beautiful range of natural enrichment products, including: Natural branches in all shapes and sizes, hanging chewable toys, and natural foot toys perfect for play and shredding 🌱🍂

If someone you know is having a hard day, send this to them to make their day a little brighter ❤️

These baby guinea pigs spent most of their visit hiding safely underneath mum, their favourite little safe spot. Unlike many small mammals, guinea pig babies are incredibly independent from birth! They’re born able to walk, see, hear, and explore almost straight away, but still stay close to mum for reassurance and warmth 💛🐹

Django the cockatiel being an absolute superstar for his blood test 🩺💛

Using fear free techniques, Django was gently wrapped up in a towel for comfort and security while happily enjoying some millet during his procedure 🌾 Small touches like this can make a huge difference in reducing stress and creating a more positive experience for our feathered patients 🐥

Last Saturday was World Turtle Day and although a bit belated, we couldn't miss the chance to celebrate! 🐢❤️

A special throwback to a beautiful story featuring Annette Bird releasing precious baby turtles back into the wild after caring for them and helping them hatch, alongside their mum, who survived after being hit by a car! We were so honoured to be part of her rehabilitation journey and to help give this little family a second chance 💚🌱
