BBEVS is officially 20! 🥳🎂🦜
What started as a dream for Dr Deborah Monks has grown into 20 incredible years of Brisbane Bird & Exotics, filled with wonderful patients, passionate people and a truly special community 🩵

Last weekend, we celebrated 20 years with current and past BBEVS staff, friends, family and some of our closest VIP clients. With delicious treats, games, raffles, a photo booth and plenty of laughs, it was the perfect way to look back on everything BBEVS has achieved over the past two decades!

We are incredibly grateful to everyone who has been part of the BBEVS story. To our team members past and present, our wonderful clients and everyone who has supported Deb’s dream along the way, thank you for helping make BBEVS what it is today 🩵

Fish are more than just fish 🐠🩵

Just like any other pet, fish can become unwell, experience pain and discomfort, and need veterinary care. But because they live in a very different environment to our furry and feathered companions, signs of illness can sometimes be subtle and easy to miss.

Bringing your fish to the vet when something doesn’t seem quite right can help us identify problems early, assess their health and water quality, and work out the best treatment to get them feeling their best again.

Your fish is a little individual with their own needs, personality and place in your family and they deserve the same care and attention as any other pet! 💙

Pinkie is our gorgeous Patient of the Week! 💕🦜

This sweet galah visited us for the day to have her leg band removed, as it was causing her some grief. She was such a brave girl throughout the whole process! 🥹💗

Pinkie is now back home, feeling comfortable and happy again 🥰🏡

We’re so glad we could help this beautiful girl feel more comfortable!

Chicken blood donors needed! 🐓🩸

Did you know chickens can donate blood to help save the life of another chicken? ❤️

Blood transfusions can be lifesaving for chickens experiencing severe blood loss, anaemia, trauma, surgery or certain illnesses. Having suitable donor chickens available means we can provide urgent treatment when another feathered patient needs it most!

We’re looking for healthy chickens who may be suitable blood donors to join our donor list 🐔

Just a little reminder that frogs are VERY cool! 😎

From their incredible jumping abilities to their unique skin, specialised feet and fascinating ways of communicating, frogs are seriously underrated! 🌿

As a veterinary clinic for unique pets, we get to care for some pretty amazing amphibian patients and we think they deserve just as much love and attention as every other pet 💚

So next time you spot a frog, take a moment to appreciate just how cool these little guys are! 🐸

Let’s talk respiratory disease in rats! 🐀

Respiratory disease is unfortunately common in rats, and those little snuffles and sneezes shouldn’t be ignored ❤️‍🩹

In this video, Dr Deb shares her clinical wisdom about respiratory disease in rats, including some of the signs to watch for and why early veterinary care is so important. 🩺🐭

If your rat is showing changes in their breathing, increased sneezing, nasal discharge, lethargy or reduced appetite, it’s always worth getting them checked by your veterinarian.

Because even the smallest signs can tell us something about your rat’s health 💙

Patient of the week: Nyx 🐁
This little sweetheart visited us for a recheck of her ear infection last Saturday, and she was just the cutest! 🥰

We’re happy to report that her treatment is working beautifully, and she’s feeling much more comfortable. Of course, she also received plenty of yummy snacks for being such a sweet little mouse! 💗🐭
