🐾 Meet Pearl! 💕 This little sweet puppy came to Livewell Animal Urgent Care of Worthington with some pretty impressive facial swelling. 😳🐶

After being treated with Benadryl, Pearl is feeling SO much better and is now happily recovering at home with her family! 🥰🏡

Facial swelling in pets can happen for a variety of reasons, including allergic reactions or insect bites, and it’s always something worth taking seriously. Swelling—especially around the face, mouth, or throat—can sometimes progress quickly and affect breathing.

Pearl’s story had a happy ending, but if your pet suddenly develops facial swelling, don’t wait it out. Give your veterinarian or an animal urgent care team a call for guidance. ❤️

We’re so happy this sweet girl is doing great!

Maahi has an important message… and she’s delivering it with a pup cup! 🐶🍦

Did you know your dog has a**l glands (a**l sacs)? These small sacs sit on either side of the a**s and normally release a small amount of fluid when your pet passes stool.

Sometimes, they don’t empty properly and can become impacted, irritated, or infected. 🚨 Signs to watch for include:
🐾 Scooting their bottom on the floor
🐾 Licking or biting around the tail area
🐾 A strong, fishy odor
🐾 Swelling, redness, or discomfort near the a**s
🐾 Straining or difficulty passing stool

Not every dog needs routine a**l gland expression, and frequent or unnecessary expression can sometimes cause irritation. If your pet is showing signs of discomfort, it’s best to have them evaluated by a veterinary professional.

So while Maahi enjoys her pup cup, take a moment to check in on your pup’s behind-the-scenes health! 🐾💛

Meet this sweet little girl, who stopped by for a suspected UTI! 🩷🐾 While we’ve already shared the signs of UTIs to watch for, her visit is a good reminder that changes in urination can have several causes—and it’s always worth checking in with your veterinarian when something seems off.

Thankfully, she was much more interested in exploring the room than worrying about her appointment! 🥹🎀 Friendly reminder we are now open 7 days a week from 12pm to 10pm!
