Two Programs. One Mission.

At Saint Louis University, the partnership with Duo Dogs goes beyond one wagging tail!

In addition to their very own Duo Facility Dog, Woody, SLU regularly welcomes Duo Touch Therapy teams to campus, giving students opportunities to connect with dogs, take a break from the demands of college life, and find a little comfort during stressful days.

Through both our Facility Dog and Duo Touch Therapy programs, we're proud to partner with SLU to support student well-being, encourage stress reduction, and remind students that sometimes, a few minutes with a dog can make all the difference.

We're grateful for partners like Saint Louis University who recognize the powerful impact of the human-animal bond.

Thank you, CardinalsCare, for helping us put more books in classrooms and more happy tails beside young readers!

Paws for Reading gives students the opportunity to build confidence and improve their reading skills by spending time reading to a dog. And there’s an extra reward: students can earn books for their classroom by reaching their reading goals!

We are proud to offer Paws for Reading at no cost to our partner facilities, and generous partners like CardinalsCare make that possible.

Service Dog in Training/Service Dog Etiquette. It can be hard to resist a cute dog, especially when you see one out in public. But when a dog is working, the best way to show your respect is to follow these simple rules:

-Don’t pet a service dog without permission. Even a quick pat can distract a dog from an important task.

-Don’t call to, whistle at, or make noises toward a working dog. They need to stay focused on their handler.

-Never offer food or treats. A working dog should not be encouraged to break focus or approach strangers.

-Don’t photograph or follow a service dog team without permission. The handler may be working through a private or important moment.

-Talk to the person, not the dog. If you have a question, wait until the handler is in a safe situation and ask respectfully.

And remember: Not all disabilities are visible, and service dogs are working even when it looks like they’re just sitting quietly.

The best compliment you can give a working dog team? Let them work.

Good grooming habits start young! Our puppies are learning more than obedience skills. They’re also learning that grooming and hygiene are a normal part of life.

Starting these routines while they’re young helps puppies become comfortable with things like brushing, nail trims, ear cleaning, baths, and handling. These experiences help build confidence and prepare them for the many different environments, people, and situations they may encounter throughout their working careers.

For our Volunteer Puppy Raisers, even everyday grooming moments are opportunities to teach, build trust, and help their puppy grow into a confident, well-rounded dog.

Yesterday we kicked off our annual United Way of Greater St. Louis campaign with their safety-net partner Duo Dogs, a local nonprofit that trains and connects dogs with people to cultivate positive change in individuals, families and communities.

We really enjoyed our time with Evie, a Duo Dogs ambassador who helps spread the message of Duo Dogs. Their programs involve mobility dogs, PTSD dogs, hearing dogs, and training for touch therapy.

It's National Dessert Day, and we want to celebrate two of our sweetest pups, our 2027 Puppies of the Year, Duo Dogs Mochi and Cannoli. Get to know these sweet boys.

Meet Mochi, aka Mochi Man, Macho Man, Legs, Bubby, or Boopie!

Three words to describe him? Happy, hoppy, floppy! Have you ever seen him hop for joy? Mochi loves saying hello to people, playing with his dog friends, and snuggling up with his favorite stuffed bunny’s ears. As for his future career, he’s considering a few options: Assistance or Facility Dog, where he can be a front door greeter, or CEO of a dog toy company. We’ll have to wait and see where his talents take him!

Meet Cannoli, aka Noli!

This snugglebug is smart, charming, and always the life of the paw-ty! His favorite toy is a Benebone, though he thinks it would be even better if they made a cannoli flavor. Who do we need to email to make that happen? When he’s not enjoying a car ride anywhere, you can find him shadowing his dad, Jasper. His career goal? Becoming an Italian charmer who helps others live their very own Dolce Vita, or the sweet life as an Assistance or Facility Dog!

While these two are busy being adorable, they're also hard at work learning their needed skills with the help of their dedicated volunteer puppy raisers.

Are you Team Mochi or Team Cannoli? Let us know in the comments.
