🐾💙 October is Pit Bull Awareness Month!

Meet Lettie (A652680)! 🐶 This beautiful girl is one of the many pit bull-type dogs who remind us why every pet deserves to be seen for their unique personality, not just their breed.

Pit Bull Awareness Month is an opportunity to celebrate these wonderful dogs, challenge misconceptions, and encourage responsible pet ownership. ❤️

Lettie is currently enjoying life in foster care while waiting for her forever family! 🏡

🎃🐾 WOW! What an incredible night at Paws & Pumpkins!

Our hearts are so full! ❤️ Our first-ever Paws & Pumpkins fall event was an AMAZING experience, and we couldn't have done it without our wonderful Harris County community!

From face painting and balloon animals to popcorn, games, and so much more, it was an evening filled with fun, laughter, and plenty of wagging tails! 🐶🐱

But what made the night truly special? Seeing cats and dogs find their forever homes AND welcoming community members who had never heard of Harris County Pets or visited our facility before! 🏡❤️

For us, this event was about more than just celebrating fall. It was an opportunity to connect with our community, introduce more people to the work we do, and most importantly, give our shelter pets more opportunities to find loving families.

THANK YOU to everyone who came out, celebrated with us, and helped make our first fall event such an incredible success! 🧡

We had such a wonderful time, and we hope to do it again soon!

Special thank you to our partners over at the Harris County District Clerk's office, Harris County Public Health and High Meadows Branch Library for joining us. ❤️

🐾 Missed out on the fun? Make sure you're following Harris County Pets so you don't miss our next event. We can't wait to see you!

☎️🐾 Behind every call is an opportunity to make a difference, and behind those calls is a team worth celebrating!

Every month, our dedicated team assists 6,000–8,000 callers, helping community members schedule appointments, finalize adoptions, reunite lost pets with their families, and respond to service requests that help keep our community safe.

While they may not always be in the spotlight, their hard work behind the scenes plays an important role in everything we do at Harris County Pets. ❤️

Join us in giving a big THANK YOU to this incredible team for their dedication to our pets and the Harris County community! 🐶🐱

🍂🐾 Fall festivities are in full swing across Harris County! With cooler weather, community events, and plenty of seasonal treats, October is a great time to get out and enjoy the season!

As you celebrate, don't forget to keep your furry family members safe, too!

🍬 Watch the treats! Keep chocolate, candy, and other potentially harmful foods away from pets.

🎃 Be mindful of decorations! Keep candles, electrical cords, and other fall decorations out of reach.

🐕 Keep pets secure! With all the excitement, make sure your pets can't accidentally slip away.

🏷️ Check their ID! Make sure ID tags and microchip information are up to date.

Let's make this fall season fun and safe for everyone, including our four-legged friends! 🧡

Thank you so much to Noticias 45 Houston for having us this morning for a live segment to promote our Paws & Pumpkins event happening this Friday, Oct. 9! 🎃🐾

It was an incredible experience to connect with our Harris County community and share more about the event alongside one of our favorite shelter pups, Rumi (A662259)! 🐶

With nearly half of Harris County’s population being Hispanic, we must continue finding ways to connect with and reach our Spanish-speaking community.

Thank you again to Noticias 45 Houston for helping us spread the word! 💛
