Meet Georgette, a 28-year-old Congo African Grey parrot who has been part of the GCVS family for more than 20 years and is our featured Patient of the Month. 🦜

Affectionately known as a true “Rock Star” 🌟 by her owner, Anna, Georgette has been winning over the hearts of our team since she first became a patient in 2001.

When Georgette recently developed a squamous cell carcinoma tumor, multiple teams across GCVS Houston came together to support her care. Dr. Baley performed surgery to remove as much of the mass as possible, and Georgette went on to become the first avian patient at GCVS to receive intralesional chemotherapy through our Medical Oncology service. She also impressed our Diagnostic Imaging team by being exceptionally well-behaved during her echocardiogram.

Through every appointment, procedure, and treatment, Georgette has remained as sweet, social, and personable as ever. Watching her recover and continue thriving has been incredibly rewarding for the many team members who have had the privilege of caring for her over the years.

We're so proud to celebrate Georgette and grateful to be part of her journey. ❤️

We are so excited to celebrate one of our Surgery House Officers, Dr. Emily Durocher, who took home the House Officer Abstract Award at the VES Conference in Boston! 🎉

Dr. Durocher presented research on "A Novel Specimen Retrieval Technique in Small Animal Laparoscopy: A Cadaveric Feasibility Study," representing the incredible work and collaboration happening here at GCVS Houston.

Celebrating an incredible milestone, Lori's 25th Anniversary at GCVS! 🎉

Lori's passion for veterinary medicine began at just 10 years old, when she wanted to "be a vet." By age 14, she was already working at her first veterinary clinic as a kennel assistant, where her dedication and curiosity quickly opened the door to learning advanced technical skills. From there, she built an impressive career path that included working in exotic animal medicine, earning a Bachelor's degree in Animal Science, and ultimately bringing her knowledge and heart to GCVS.

Today, Lori is a valued member of our Neurology team, where her experience, teamwork, and compassion shine every day. She loves helping clients better understand their pets' diagnoses, mentoring team members, and creating a calmer, more positive experience for both pets and their families.

Lori, thank you for 25 years of dedication, growth, and heartfelt care. Your passion for learning and helping others has made a lasting impact on countless patients, clients, and teammates. We are so grateful to celebrate this milestone with you! 💙
