Adoption Spotlight: Cruz 💙🐾
When Cruz’s adopter visited the Houston SPCA, they came looking for one dog—but fate had other plans.
Although Cruz wasn't their first choice, this playful pup quickly stole their heart. "He picked me," they shared. From that moment on, Cruz became part of the family, joining them everywhere from dinner outings and shopping trips to movie nights.
Cruz came into their life during a difficult season and brought comfort, companionship, and a renewed sense of purpose. His walks, playtime, snacks, and endless personality helped fill each day with joy.
Then, in December 2025, their journey took an unexpected turn when Cruz was diagnosed with lymphoma. The heartbreaking news only strengthened the bond they shared. Determined to give Cruz the best life possible, their family committed to doing everything they could to keep him happy and comfortable.
After months of chemotherapy, Cruz has shown incredible strength and resilience. Today, we’re happy to share that he is in remission! Cruz celebrated his 11th birthday in July and is doing amazing, enjoying every moment of life with the family who loves him.
