Simply Cats is Boise, Idaho's no-kill, cageless feline adoption center. Simply Cats got its start (with just six cats!) as Just Strays Animal Foundation, Inc., in a one room office in 1986. Thanks to a very dedicated group of people, the shelter grew and moved into a larger building. In 2006, the name of the organization was changed to Simply Cats A

doption Center to reflect its feline-only animal population. Meanwhile, plans were underway to construct a brand new state-of the-art adoption center. Thanks to generous donors, the facility was constructed and donated in 2007 and has been our home ever since. Today, Simply Cats Adoption Center shelters over 100 cats and kittens and operates due to the hard work of a small staff and many volunteers. Simply Cats is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization that relies on donations for funding.

My name is Whimsey Lou, and I’m a 5-year-old grey ticked tabby. I came to Simply Cats because of a move.

I’m a bit nervous right now and tend to keep to myself while I adjust. But even with everything feeling new and overwhelming, I’ve been showing my gentle side. The volunteers say I’m very shy, but I accept pets when they’re given with calm voices and slow, careful movements.

I really do want to love and be loved. It will just take me some time to feel safe. I’m hoping to find a peaceful, patient home where I can relax, settle in at my own pace, and start to feel comfortable again.

I’m a beautiful ginger cat with golden eyes and a golden personality. My coloring feels a little like Barcelona in the afternoon sun… warm oranges, soft golds, and a glow that makes everything feel just a bit brighter.

I’m a mellow boy who enjoys having company nearby. One of my favorite places to be is curled up next to you while you relax. I’m an absolute purr machine when I’m getting attention and love soaking up all the pets. As for naptime, you can usually find me snoozing in a soft, cozy bed.

I would make a sweet companion to talk about the day’s events with while watching a little TV. I still have plenty of s***k and might even chase a wand toy when playtime comes around.

I’m ready to find a home where I can spend my golden years in comfort. I’d love if you’d consider an older gentleman like me.

We have an exciting opportunity to share! Simply Cats will once again be participating in this year’s 2nd Annual Relay for Rescue (don’t worry — there’s absolutely no running involved).

This fun event is primarily a team-based scavenger hunt through local venues in downtown Boise. We’ll be competing against other rescue teams to earn points toward the grand prize. For Simply Cats to qualify for a chance to win, we need at least 25 participants to join our team!

Along with the scavenger hunt, a few participants will also take part in silly challenges while walking between venues, such as balloon hop, locked elbows, newspaper press, and more. The team with the most points at the end of the event wins the grand prize!

Here’s what you need to know:
✨ Saturday, August 1 from 2–6 PM
✨ Starts at The Warehouse Food Hall
✨ Registration is $40 and includes a team t-shirt
✨ 30% of every registration comes right back to Simply Cats
✨ Starting this Friday and continuing every Friday through July 24, every registration automatically earns our team an extra 5 points!

At the end of the competition, participants will also have the chance to enter raffles and bid on silent auction items, with all proceeds supporting animals in need.

Miss Sniff has been patiently waiting for her forever home... Day after day, she sits by the door of her room, gently pawing at it, hoping the next person who walks through will finally be her person.

She came to Simply Cats after her family had to move and was a little cautious at first, but these days she has truly come out of her shell and often seeks out attention from anyone who visits her room.

Miss Sniff has a unique face that makes her look like she’s plotting something devious, but in reality she’s one of the sweetest cats you’ll ever meet! She has an adorable head tilt, a bit of a wobbly walk, and a heart that just wants to love and be loved.

The moment you walk into her room, she’ll greet you with cute meows, rub against everything around her, and follow you around asking for pets. She has the purrfect balance of playful and affectionate, and is also content being by herself soaking up sunshine or curling up for a cozy nap nearby.

And if catnip or a laser pointer comes out? Her silly side shines instantly. Watching her flop onto her back, roll side to side, and sprint after that red dot is impossible not to smile at.

Her previous family described her as the “best cat,” and it’s easy to see why. There’s not an ounce of sass in this girl—just a gentle, loving soul. With proper and slow introductions, she could also do well in a home with other cats and dogs.

Thanks to Julie Cendejas Realty Group and Eric Leigh with Rate, Miss Sniff’s adoption fee is fully covered this month, meaning she can be adopted at no cost! My name is Honey Bug, and I’m a 7-year-old torbie girl with golden fur, beautiful green eyes, and a soft little heart that just needs some time to feel safe. I came to Simply Cats after my owner experienced health issues.

I’m shy at first, so you probably won’t see my full personality right away. I like to stay tucked in my hiding spot while I figure things out. But if you’re patient with me, you’ll start to notice the little signs that I’m warming up. I’ll roll around, make biscuits, and flirt from the safety of my cozy spot to let you know I’m starting to trust you.

I’m not the kind of cat who bursts into a room demanding attention. I’m more of a quiet connection that grows slowly and steadily over time. I just need a calm home, gentle people, and someone who understands that sweet cats sometimes need a little extra patience in the beginning. Once my walls come down, you’ll see that my heart is just as golden as my fur.

I’m Roslyn, and I’m at Simply Cats with my bonded sister, Juliet. Before coming here, we were left at a boarding facility, and all the changes have been a lot for us.

We really lean on each other for support, which is why it’s so important that we stay together. I also recently had one of my eyes removed because it was causing discomfort. Honestly, I feel much better now.

We're 3-year-old girls with a gentle personalities. My sister and I are both very sweet, but we take a little time to warm up to new people. Right now, the enrichment volunteers at Simply Cats are helping us build confidence and learn that people can be kind and safe.

We may not run up to greet you right away, but that doesn’t mean we don’t want love. Little by little, we’re making amazing progress.

Juliet and I are looking for a calm, patient home with someone who will let us settle in at our own pace and celebrate the little moments as our trust grows. It may take us time to come out of our shells, but I think the connection we build with the right person will be something really special.
