Meet Rusty, our adorable little goat looking for a new home. This young guy was picked up by Animal Control near Highway 16 and Chinden Boulevard. Unfortunately, his owner never came forward, so now Rusty is ready to find a new family!

Rusty was exposed to Caseous Lymphadenitis (CL) and has a waiver due to potential exposure. If you have other goats, we strongly recommend quarantining Rusty to protect your herd. Our staff will be happy to explain the precautions and answer any questions before adoption.

Rusty's adoption fee is just $25!

Visit us at 4775 W. Dorman St., Boise, ID 83709. He's available for adoption on a first-come, first-served basis, so don't wait too long to meet this little guy.

It pays to recycle! Last month, recycling donations brought in $1,074.96 -- the last 90 days $2,929.76!

Help animals in need and the environment by participating in our aluminum can recycling program, in partnership with Pacific Steel and Recycling. They also take other recyclables such as copper, brass, ammo, wiring and cables, batteries, construction surplus, scrap, computers, bikes, appliances, and more!

It’s a simple and effective way to give back to your community and support the animals in our care. To donate, gather your recyclable items and visit one of their convenient locations in the Treasure Valley (below) or in the northwest!

Meet Chuya and Kevin! These playful brothers are new additions to our cattery, so we’re still getting to know their personalities. The two grew up together and were surrendered as a pair, so we’d love to see them find a home together!

So far, both boys have shown themselves to be incredibly social and loving. They enjoy meeting new people, playing, and spending time together, whether that means sharing a snack with their humans or curling up for a cozy nap with each other.

Chuya does have some cataracts that may affect his vision. Thankfully, they aren’t causing him any pain, though occasional veterinary checkups are recommended to keep an eye on them. His adventurous spirit is still going strong!

Ferrets make wonderful, entertaining companions, but they need plenty of mental and physical stimulation to stay happy and healthy. If you’re ready for double the fun, these sweet brothers could be the perfect pair for you!

JUMP-or-Treat comes alive with Halloween magic on Saturday, October 24th from 5-8pm in the JUMP Park. This event is free to attend!

Our famous inflatables will transform the JUMP grounds into an inflatable forest! Dress up in your most boo-tiful costumes and gather at JUMP for an evening filled with laughter and spooky delight. As you wander, local nonprofits will be there to share treats and treasures with JUMP-or-treaters of all ages.

This event is put on by JUMP in collaboration with many of our community’s wonderful nonprofit organizations.

Othella’s story began when a Good Samaritan found her as a stray and brought her to our Shelter Medical Center for care.

Our staff noticed that Othella was straining to urinate and passing blood in her urine. Further evaluation revealed numerous bladder stones that were causing her discomfort and making it difficult for her to urinate. She underwent surgery last month to remove the stones, and follow-up X-rays confirmed they were all gone. Othella has since recovered wonderfully, with no ongoing urinary concerns.

Othella also received treatment for infections in both ears. After medication and a thorough cleaning, a follow-up exam confirmed that her infections had cleared and her ear canals were healthy!

But enough about the medical stuff — let’s talk about this sweet girl! Othella loves being right by your side, walks nicely on a leash, and is always happy to say hello to everyone she meets. She’s a loving, friendly companion who’s ready to leave her stray days behind and start a new chapter with a family of her own.

Our 34th Annual See Spot Walk was one for the books! From wagging tails and creative costumes to a beautiful walk along the Boise Greenbelt, we loved seeing our community come together to celebrate the animals who make our lives better.

Every month, the Pet Food Pantry gives families something powerful: peace of mind. Instead of facing the impossible choice between caring for themselves or their pets, families receive the food and support they need to keep their beloved companions healthy, safe, and at home.

Our Pet Food Pantry exists for one simple reason: to keep pets with their people. Last year alone, the program distributed more than 84,000 pounds of pet food, helping more than 6,000 pets keep their bellies full and remain with the families who love them.

For the third year in a row, a generous anonymous donor has stepped forward to match every Pet Food Pantry donation, dollar for dollar, up to $20,000. That means every gift will go twice as far to feed pets in need.

Your donation helps keep families like Janet and Sadie together. While visiting the Pet Food Pantry, Janet wanted to share a message with you:

"There are just not enough words to say how grateful we are to the donors. If I could do it I would, I love the animals... They bring joy and happiness to people who are sad, they bring companionship to people that are lonely, so to all of you who are helping us keep our animals alive and going, you are really helping more than just the animals."

Red Rudy was transferred to our Shelter Medical Center from an overcrowded, under-resourced shelter in need of medical care. He arrived with a chronic fracture in the middle of his left tibia (shinbone), which our veterinary team surgically repaired.

He was also diagnosed with demodectic mange, a skin condition caused by an overgrowth of naturally occurring Demodex mites. Treated with Bravecto, Red Rudy’s skin has improved significantly, and we expect his hair to continue growing back as he heals. Demodectic mange is not considered contagious.

Red Rudy is now on our adoption floor and ready to find his new home! Although we don’t know much about his past, we’ve learned he’s an absolute sweetheart who knows “sit” and takes treats very gently.

His fracture has not yet fully healed, so he’ll need a home that can follow veterinary instructions and activity restrictions until he’s cleared by a veterinarian. This includes being kept indoors with crate or small-room confinement, taken outside only on a short leash, and no running, jumping, stairs, rough play, or playing with other animals.

In honor of National Make a Dog’s (and Cat’s) Day, the Idaho Humane Society is collecting pet food now through October 30th to support our Pet Food Pantry!

Our Pet Food Pantry helps local families who may be struggling to afford pet food, making sure their beloved pets can stay right where they belong, at home with the people who love them.

We’ve teamed up with community partners throughout the Treasure Valley to make donating easy. Simply stop by one of our participating drop-off locations and leave a donation of pet food in an IHS donation barrel!

At the end of the drive, our volunteers will collect and weigh all the donated food to see just how many pounds our community came together to provide.

Every bag, can, and pound of food makes a difference! Together, we can help keep pets fed, families supported, and more animals out of shelters.
