Gentle old soul, Kisha 🤍

Kisha is a beautiful 10-year-old Boxer mix with the sweetest heart and the gentlest soul. She’s one of our regular “frequent flyers,” popping in to see the nurses for her Cytopoint injections to help keep those pesky allergies under control. 🌷

This time Kisha visited Dr. Rebecca for an abdominal ultrasound after her routine yearly bloodwork showed elevated liver enzyme levels. While Kisha was acting like her usual lovely self at home, her blood tests told us there may be something brewing behind the scenes… and they were right!

Her ultrasound revealed a sludgy gallbladder. This is when the bile becomes thick and sluggish, it can place extra strain on the liver, which may explain those elevated liver values on her bloodwork.

The good news? Kisha is doing great! 🌟
Dr. Rebecca has started her on a liver supplement to help support healthy liver function and improve bile flow. As well as recommended 6-12mthly ultrasounds to keep an eye on her liver and gallbladder so we can monitor any changes.

Kisha was of course, the perfect patient and accepted all payments in the form of cuddles, attention and post procedure snack! 💕

This gorgeous girl is Janie 🩷🐶

A 6-year-old Cavalier King Charles Spaniel with the sweetest soul and the BEST manners in town. Seriously… if there was an award for “most polite patient,” Janie would already have a trophy cabinet.

Janie first visited us back in January 2025 shortly after being adopted by her wonderful owners. Sadly, not long after finding her new home, Janie was attacked by another dog while out on a walk.

Unfortunately, the injuries to her left eye were too severe to save and Dr Charlotte performed an enucleation surgery (eye removal) on little Janie. ❤️‍🩹

The amazing part? Janie absolutely smashed recovery. ✨
Dogs adapt incredibly well to having one eye, and Janie proved that perfectly! Healing beautifully, bouncing back quickly, and continuing life like the happy little queen she is. 👑

Fast forward to this week, Janie’s very attentive pawrents noticed she was squinting her eye and brought her straight in to see her favourite vet, Dr. Charlotte. (the feeling is definitely mutual on this one)☺️

Dr. Charlotte performed a health check and then eye exam including:

🔹Eye drops - specifically numbing eye drops used to relief discomfort during eye exams or on painful eyes. (ulcers are quite painful 😣)
🔹 Ophthalmoscope — used to assess the retina (back of the eye)
🔹 Fluorescein stain — a bright stain used to highlight ulcers or scratches on the surface of the eye

Sure enough, Janie had a small ulcer. Luckily it was caught early and treated with medication before becoming something much more serious. 🩺

After plenty of cuddles (strictly medical, obviously), Janie also received a very stern lecture from her nurse about protecting her very important eye!

Through every consult, surgery, and recovery, Janie continues to be one of the happiest, kindest and most eager-to-please pups we’ve ever met!

DID YOU KNOW? (Eye edition)

Eyes are a very important organ, any signs like squinting, redness, discharge, or rubbing should always be checked ASAP, ideally never later than 48 hours post noticed symptoms! If you can’t get into you GP local vets within 48 hours, a trip to emergency maybe advised!

Meet Lane: part guinea pig, part drama king, full-time sass machine. 👑🥬

Lane is one of our regular VIPs here at the clinic thanks to his ongoing dental issues. One particularly troublesome tooth likes to grow sharp little spurs every 2–3 months, which means Lane pops in for a consultation, hospital stay and a dental trim under a short anaesthetic with Dr. Charlotte.

The good news? Lane’s owners are absolutely awesome when it comes to spotting the tiniest change in his eating habits. Guinea pigs are experts at hiding illness, so noticing when they slow down on snacks can make a HUGE difference!

Because Lane is brought in as soon as something is slightly off, he stays bright, hydrated, and keeps his all-important faecal output going strong. All things that are incredibly important for a stable anaesthetic and smooth recovery. ❤️‍🩹

And honestly… Lane recovers like the tiny furry celebrity he is every single time. ✨🐹

He wakes up with a fresh attitude for his nurse Alicia, an appetite bigger than the clinic itself, and ready to write a formal complaint due to the interruption of his snack schedule. 💅🥬

We absolutely adore Lane and always wish him the very best. While we secretly hope it’s a long time before he needs another visit, we know we’ll miss our favourite sassy little patient in the meantime. (Although we’re fairly certain the feeling is not entirely mutual 🩷)

Say hello to Dolly 🩷 & Johnny 🩵 or as they were known during today’s mission… AstroDolly & AstroJohnny 👩‍🚀

These fluffy space cadets came in to see Dr. Bec for a Grade 1 Dental Scale & Polish, arriving in full style and clearly ready for take-off. ✨

Their pre-anaesthetic bloodwork was absolutely stellar, and their dental radiographs showed their pearly whites were in fantastic health… meaning the tooth fairy had the day off today 🦷🧚🏼‍♀️

The kittens were very well behaved for their nurse Emma and they both DEVOURED a post dental snack which came with a side of the BEST post anaesthesia faces! (We believe at this moment Johnny really thought he had graduated from NASA and was preparing for launch! 🚀🙈)

After a successful mission, both astronauts recovered beautifully and headed home with sparkling clean teeth, full bellies, and absolutely no understanding of what planet they were currently orbiting. 🐱✨ 🪐
