🍑🐶 Why is my dog scooting?

That little bottom shuffle might look funny, but frequent scooting can be a sign of irritation or discomfort.

Common causes include:
🐾 Full or blocked a**l glands
🐾 Worms or parasites
🐾 Allergies or skin irritation
🐾 Soft stools or something stuck around the fur

If your dog is scooting regularly, licking their bottom, or seems uncomfortable, it’s worth getting them checked by your vet.

💙 Meet Chewy! Chewy came in to see us for his a**l glands. While his caboose was getting a little spruce-up, he made sure to enjoy plenty of cuddles and attention from our team! 🥰🐾

🥕 What’s in your pet’s bowl?

We all want to give our pets the best — and good nutrition is an important part of keeping them happy and healthy. 🐾❤️

But did you know that sometimes the right food can be an important part of your pet’s treatment plan too?

After a consultation, our veterinary team may recommend a prescription or therapeutic diet if your pet has a particular health condition or nutritional need.

These diets are specially formulated to help support conditions such as:

🐾 Kidney and urinary disease
🐾 Gastrointestinal problems
🐾 Food allergies and sensitivities
🐾 Weight management
🐾 Joint health
🐾 Liver and metabolic conditions
🐾 Recovery and nutritional support

Prescription diets aren't recommended simply because they're a different type of pet food. They are formulated with specific nutritional goals in mind and may help support your pet alongside other treatments.

🐾💙 Reggie knows exactly where he wants to go! 💙🐾

Reggie is a familiar face around our clinic, and whenever he walks past, he has a very clear idea of where he wants his owner to go next…

Straight to our front door! 😂🐶

Whether he has an appointment or not, Reggie will happily drag his owner all the way to the entrance. We're not sure if it's the people, the pats, the treats or simply the excitement of being here — but he certainly knows the way!

However, Reggie had a very good reason for making his usual detour to our clinic this time. His ear had been bothering him, so he made sure his owner knew it was time to book an appointment. 👂🩺

We think Reggie's instincts were spot on! Sometimes our pets are the first to let us know when something isn't quite right.

🦷💗 A senior smile worth celebrating! 💗🦷

Beautiful Sylvie recently came in for her routine dental scale and polish, and we were so impressed with the condition of her teeth and gums!

For a senior girl, Sylvie has an exceptionally healthy mouth — and that's no accident. 🐶✨ Her owners have been putting in the work with the right dental care at home, and it really shows!

Professional dental cleans are important, but what happens between veterinary dental visits can make a huge difference to your pet's ongoing oral health.

Here are some ways you can help keep your pet's teeth healthy at home:

🪥 Brush their teeth regularly — using a pet-safe toothpaste and toothbrush.
🦷 Use dental products recommended by your vet — not all dental products are created equal.
🥣 Consider a dental diet where appropriate — some diets are specifically designed to help reduce plaque and tartar.
🦴 Choose dental chews carefully — your vet can help you select safe, appropriate options for your pet.
💧 Consider veterinary-approved dental water additives to complement brushing.
👀 Check their mouth regularly — keep an eye out for tartar, red gums, bad breath, loose teeth or anything that looks unusual.

🐾 That little lump might be nothing… but it's always worth checking. 🐾

Our pets can develop lumps and bumps for all sorts of reasons. Some are completely harmless, while others may require further investigation or treatment.

Recently, sweet Poppy came in to see us to have a few little lumps removed. 🐶💗 After her procedure, she was able to head home and get back to doing what dogs do best — being loved and spoilt!

A lumpectomy involves surgically removing a lump or mass, and depending on the individual case, the tissue may be sent to the laboratory for testing to determine exactly what we're dealing with.

🔎 Our advice? Get every new lump checked — and don't forget the old ones!

Even if you've noticed a lump for months or years and it hasn't seemed to cause your pet any trouble, it's still worth having your vet examine it. Changes in size, shape, texture or colour can be important, but sometimes a lump can look completely innocent from the outside and still warrant further investigation.

Early assessment allows your vet to determine whether a lump can simply be monitored or whether removal and testing is recommended.

So next time you're giving your pet a cuddle, have a little feel around. 🐾💕

💙🐾 Ned has arrived! 🐾💙

This handsome Labrador puppy came in to see us and, as you can imagine, a Labrador puppy in the clinic is a pretty hard thing to resist! 😂

Ned is at that wonderful stage where everything is new — new faces, new smells and plenty of new things to investigate. 🐶👀

We love seeing puppies at the beginning of their journey and helping them get off to a healthy start. And Ned certainly seems to have the whole adorable Labrador thing figured out already! 🥹💙

We think Ned may have left with a few new fans here at the clinic… 🐾

🐾💗 Meet Loretta — looking for her forever home! 💗🐾

We recently had the pleasure of meeting the gorgeous Loretta, who came to us for her desexing procedure.

Loretta is currently being cared for by Hear No Evil Dog Rescue, a wonderful rescue dedicated to fostering and finding loving homes for vision and hearing impaired and special-needs, dogs and cats. 💕

Now that Loretta has had her procedure and is ready for her next chapter, she's looking for her forever family! 🏡🐾

Deaf dogs can make incredibly loving and wonderful companions, and with the right environment and a little understanding, they can thrive just like any other dog.
