Could you recognise the signs of tick paralysis?
Paralysis ticks can be life threatening for your pet. Early recognition and treatment are critical.
🚨 Signs of tick paralysis can include:
-A change or weakness in your dog’s bark
-Difficulty swallowing or excessive drooling
-Wobbliness or weakness, especially in the back legs
-Difficulty breathing or rapid breathing
-Vomiting or retching
If you notice any of these signs, seek veterinary attention immediately. Tick paralysis can progress quickly.
💉 Prevention is better than treatment.
✅A yearly preventative injection is available for dogs and can provide protection against paralysis ticks for up to 12 months. Ask our veterinary team whether this option is suitable for your dog.
Even with prevention, daily tick searches are important, especially after your dog has been outdoors.
