I’m so tired of hearing, “No, she must have one litter before we sterilise her,” or, “He’s a male, he doesn’t need to be done.”Sadly statements made by those who can least afford to care for these animals.
**Why? Why does she need to have a litter? Why does he need to father puppies or kittens?
There are already SO many unwanted puppies and kittens in the world. Shelters and rescues are overwhelmed, animals are being abandoned, and far too many never get the safe, loving homes they deserve.
And people often don’t stop to think about what happens once those puppies or kittens leave their home. You may find loving homes for the litter you brought into the world, but what happens to those animals later? What happens when their owners can no longer care for them? What happens when *their* offspring are born?
It doesn’t end with one litter.
Sterilising isn’t cruel. **Bringing more animals into an already overcrowded world without considering their future is what we need to rethink.**
Please, before deciding that your pet “needs just one litter” or that a male “doesn’t need to be done,” think beyond the cute puppies and kittens.
Think about the lives that come after them. ❤️🐾
