Meet Roxanne — a happy-go-lucky gal with a wiggly butt and a love for everyone she meets. This affectionate dog loves treats, enjoys being active and is passionate about exploring. Friendly, sociable and full of personality, Roxanne knows how to work a room and quickly become the crowd favourite! Come and meet her today 🩵

Roxanne is a lovely, playful girl who truly enjoys life. She loves meeting new people and happily greets the world with enthusiasm and that signature wiggle. While she can be a little bouncy when she’s excited, it’s all part and parcel of her joyful nature 🍀

She’s excellent off lead with impressive recall, happily trotting back to check in even if she’s wandered a few hundred metres ahead on an adventure. Roxanne walks easily on lead and is wonderfully sociable with people. With other dogs, Roxanne just needs a proper introduction and does well with a confident playmate who can keep up with her energy and gently keep her in check if she gets a bit too enthusiastic.

She is generally an easy-going girl to have around. Like many young and energetic dogs, Roxanne would benefit from continued training and engagement but with her friendly personality and love of tasty rewards, she’s a joy to work with. For someone looking for an affectionate, active dog to share adventures and cuddles with, Roxanne is an easy choice 🐕

Pumie is the kind of dog who’s happiest taking life slowly. Following a good scent trail, finding a sunny spot to nap in and checking whether snacks are involved are the ingredients of her perfect day. Born around 2020 and having spent her life roaming the streets of Masiphumelele, she’s finding kennel life very stressful. Away from confined spaces her softer, calmer side comes through quickly and she really just wants people to love. Come through and meet her! 🐕

Pumie has spent most of her life figuring things out for herself. As a longtime Masi stray, lonely freedom and open space are what she knows. In the kennels she can struggle around other dogs but out on walks she’s become far more tolerant and settled.

She’s a mixed breed with a low-key energy and very little interest in turning every walk into a fitness challenge! Sniffing around at her own pace is much more her thing. She’s food-motivated, affectionate with people and genuinely enjoys attention without being demanding about it 🩵

Pumie could live happily as an only dog but she may also do well with the right canine companion – ideally a calm, socially sensible dog who won’t constantly pressure her to play or share space.

She prefers relaxed energy over chaos every time, so a calm or more settled family would suit her best. What Pumie really needs is something she’s never properly had before: a steady home where she can exhale, settle into routines and enjoy the simple things in life!

Worth noting: Pumie has arthritis, and is currently on supplements 💊.

Meet Theodore… We called him Theo at first but as time passed, so did the feeling that his name needed something grander, softer, more adored… and Theodore became the perfect fit for this breathtaking boy 😺

Theodore is the kind of cat who feels like poetry wrapped in fur. A stunning dilute fluffy boy with the gentlest soul, he moves through life with quiet grace, as though he carries little pockets of peace wherever he goes. He is sensitive, thoughtful, and deeply connected to the energy around him. Loud homes and chaos are simply not for him. Theodore is searching for a calm sanctuary, a human who understands soft hearts and quiet companionship.

This majestic boy is happiest in the still moments… curled beside you while the world slows down, watching birds through the window, feeling the breeze, or simply existing in comfortable silence with someone he trusts. He does not demand attention; instead, he offers something far more special, a peaceful presence that settles gently into your soul 🩵

With fur like floating candy floss clouds and eyes full of tenderness, Theodore is as soft in nature as he is in appearance. Every inch of him radiates warmth, gentleness, and quiet love. We are aware of concerns being raised within the Deep South community regarding a dog attacking horses.

A thorough investigation into these allegations we can confirm that the dog in question is not a TEARS shelter dog or patient at TEARS. Please note neither the dog or the owner has any history with our organisation.

Our priority in situations like these is always the welfare and safety of all animals involved. Incidents involving animals can quickly become emotional and concerning for communities, especially when other animals may be at risk.

At TEARS, we remain committed to responsible animal welfare practices. Our adoption process includes rehabilitation modules for those shelter pets found to be struggling with adapting to a change in their environments or those who have existing behaviour issues, also a thorough screening and vetting procedures are implemented to ensure that every animal is placed into an environment suited to their needs, behaviour, and long-term wellbeing.

We will continue to investigate the situation and assist where needed to ensure all animals involved are safe and receiving the care they may require.

We understand that situations like these can be distressing, and we truly appreciate the care and concern shown by the community for the animals involved. We kindly encourage patience, compassion, and thoughtful communication as the situation develops.

Britney is a young Boerboel – Pitbull mix with soulful puppy-dog eyes and a beautifully healing heart. Rescued as a stray, she’s a shy-at-first sweetheart who blossoms into a cuddly, playful companion once she feels safe. Just under a year old, Britney has already come a long way since being found behind Longbeach Mall in a neglected state. Despite her rough start, she’s shown incredible resilience and a growing trust in people.

She may be timid when first meeting you but give her a little time and patience and she transforms into a loving pup who will happily curl up close, rest her head on your chest and cover you in kisses. Britney adores toys – especially a good ball! She has a soft nature and thrives on human connection 🥰

She gets along wonderfully with other dogs but would also be content as your one-and-only companion. With the right family, she’ll continue to grow into a devoted, joyful dog who greets life (and you!) with a gratefully enthusiastic “yay yay yay!” attitude every single day 🎉
