Axel and his family made the move from New York to South Carolina in January, and this week they officially joined the Sangaree Animal Hospital at Cane Bay family! 🗽➡️🌴

This handsome, happy boy had his first visit with Dr. Taylor Bartolec, and we’re so glad his family chose us for his veterinary care.

🐾 Meet Bernice! 🐾

This sweet little face belongs to Bernice, a three-year-old girl who found her new family just a few weeks ago when her mom adopted her from the shelter. ❤️

When Bernice was adopted, the shelter let her new mom know that she is heartworm positive. Thankfully, Bernice now has a loving family by her side as she begins her journey toward becoming heartworm-free.

Bernice recently came to see Dr. Taylor Bartolec, and we’re so happy to be part of her care. 🩺🐶

Her story is also an important reminder of why year-round heartworm prevention and annual testing are so important. Heartworm disease is serious—but it is preventable.

We’re rooting for you, sweet Bernice! Here’s to a happy, healthy future with your new family. 🥰🐾

🐾 Cat Nail Check! 🐾

Those tiny paws need a little maintenance too! 🐱💅 Regularly checking your cat’s nails can help prevent them from becoming overgrown, curved, or even growing into the paw pad—which can be painful and lead to infection.

Senior cats, less-active cats, and kitties who don’t scratch as much are especially prone to overgrown nails.

A good habit is to check your cat’s nails every few weeks. If you hear clicking when they walk, notice a nail curling toward the paw pad, or aren’t comfortable trimming them yourself, give us a call. We’re happy to help! ❤️

And yes… cute little faces make nail checks much easier to remember. 😻

Sweet Canela recently stopped by for a technician appointment to have her annual heartworm test—and just look at those big, beautiful eyes! 🤎🥹

We recommend heartworm testing once a year, even for dogs who stay on heartworm prevention year-round. Annual testing helps ensure their prevention plan is working and allows us to catch an infection as early as possible.

A quick test once a year is a simple but important part of keeping pups like Canela happy and healthy! 🐶❤️
