πŸ₯šπŸ£We'd like to introduce everyone to our baby quackers, and our STAR of the video.... "Joe Dirt" the duckling...(Born without a top on his skull)... This Duckling has Defied all odds, and is still still alive and thriving!!!
πŸ‘ŽπŸ»πŸ€·πŸ»β€β™€οΈ (And NO, We do NOT own , Nor breed ANY crested ducks due to the known neurological issues in cresteds)
🫣πŸ₯ΊπŸ€”
Truth be told,
When I Saw this baby hatch out in the incubator, I was so heartbroken. I thought for Sure it would Not survive even a few hours, let alone long enough to go into a brooder...
Well... He did... And we Did have him isolated for the 1st week or so due to the other ducklings "curiosity pecking" inside the brooder during hatching causing him more harm than good...
So, when our second batch hatched around 10-12 days later, he was doing so well, but also so very lonely, that we decided to TRY, & put him with the younger ones (supervised of course) to see how he'd do... with his unfortunate deformity and stunted growth, he could not safely be with his own hatch mates.... But he is doing AMAZING since we put him with the younger ones!
πŸ€—πŸ’–πŸ¦†πŸ£
I'm Still in AWE of Amazement that he is still with us and doing so GREAT, considering how he hatched and all...
It was a "toss-up" with the name... We couldn't decide on "M&M" (for MegaMind) or "Joe Dirt" ..... Obviously "Mr. Joe DirtΓ©" name won the vote...
And as long as he continues to eat, drink, poo, and have the will to survive & thrive, we will do ALL we can to help! In OUR home, being disabled is NOT a death sentence... The ONLY way we would Cull an animal is if they are suffering more than not.. Deformity or disability does NOT = Death ... Not in our home... β€οΈβ€πŸ©Ή

We are welcoming some
"FRESHLY baked" Guinea keets to the world to help replenish our small confusion we had!!!

πŸ˜”Sadly last year, c**n breeched my guinea coop and "took out" my 3 females, & badly injuring my lone male... He put up a Valiant fight trying to protect them, obvious from his injuries... But he couldn't save his girls sadly.. so we tended to his wounds and thankfully in time, he healed.. but he's been lonely, even though he been hangs with the chickens, he need some gf Friends of his own..

So, after like 9 Months of search
ing for keets or eggs, I Finally found some hatching eggs near me!!!
Unfortunately only 7 of the 12 were fertilized, with 1 stopping developing around day 10. So only 6 out of 12 eggs developed to hatch, BUT, currently only 4 have hatched out (yesterday and last night), the last 2 viable ones are externally pipped though! Really hoping they hatch out with no assistance needed.πŸ₯šπŸ£πŸͺΆ

So happy that of the 4 that have hatched, we Got some absolutely BEAUTIFUL colors!!!
Can't you tell, by my EGGCITEMENT & "eeeeks" in the video audio!?!! πŸ˜†πŸ˜
I REEEEALLLY HOPE I end up with ALL of MOSTLY all Hens!!! but gotta wait n see on that!
My lone GF, Blue-Blue is going to be Sooooooo happy when these keets are big enough to join him!!! Can't Wait!!!!

Showing the GOOD and the BAD - when incubating and
Hatching Peacock Eggs 🦚πŸ₯š
This video is for educational purposes from a Small hobby homestead breeder of an example of what to look for to determine viability and things to look for to determine if the "DeathRing" is actually present.

This video is of 2 different eggs on
Day 14....ish... It shows a Comparison of a GOOD egg; Viable, Good growth, Healthy peachick development,
VS. A BAD egg; Stopped development, no growth, no movement, recession of veins,
(aka "Crapped out"), & showing the "infamous DeathRing" present. Which can happen during the Incubation period, Typically occurring between Day 7-14 with 28 day cycle birds (Ex: Ducks, peacocks, guinea fowl). And
For 21 day cycle birds, (Ex: chickens, Quail) it would typically present-occur between Days 5-12.

In this video, You can Clearly see the differences between the two eggs.
πŸ₯šEGG #1: GOOD πŸ‘πŸ» 😊
Vs
πŸ₯šEGG #2: BAD πŸ‘ŽπŸ» 😞
To which I also explain some visual differences between the 2 as well.

🦚πŸ₯š Again, these are Peacock Eggs, Which have an incubation cycle of between 28-35 days.

😁πŸͺΆπŸͺΏπŸͺΏπŸ’–
Just enjoying these 2 Gorgeous Velcro Goslings!!! 😁πŸͺΏ But I wouldn't have it any other way! Love these 2 far toooo much now! Our "MaeGoosa" & "Stellar" are probably here to stay. ...
Their Daddy Gander is a Smooth breasted Sebastopol, and mom is a French Toulouse... BUT... We MAY possibly sell one of these gorgeous lil Gosling babes, but only WITH strict condition they go with a 1 year old French Toulouse. Just to try to keep the balance in our flock, also, plus I never really like to sell them alone, but I make exceptions is if it's a specific situation, for example; they just need 1 drake to fertilize, or if the only need 1 for a single duck they already have to have a friend, and etc, but again under special circumstances.. But, we Will announce what'll be available VERY VERY Soooo on the geese/gosling!!!!...buuuuuut....
We Dooo have ducklings though!!!! 😁
We'll show what's available in a different post though!!!!
