Truth be told,
When I Saw this baby hatch out in the incubator, I was so heartbroken. I thought for Sure it would Not survive even a few hours, let alone long enough to go into a brooder...
Well... He did... And we Did have him isolated for the 1st week or so due to the other ducklings "curiosity pecking" inside the brooder during hatching causing him more harm than good...
So, when our second batch hatched around 10-12 days later, he was doing so well, but also so very lonely, that we decided to TRY, & put him with the younger ones (supervised of course) to see how he'd do... with his unfortunate deformity and stunted growth, he could not safely be with his own hatch mates.... But he is doing AMAZING since we put him with the younger ones!

I'm Still in AWE of Amazement that he is still with us and doing so GREAT, considering how he hatched and all...
It was a "toss-up" with the name... We couldn't decide on "M&M" (for MegaMind) or "Joe Dirt" ..... Obviously "Mr. Joe DirtΓ©" name won the vote...
And as long as he continues to eat, drink, poo, and have the will to survive & thrive, we will do ALL we can to help! In OUR home, being disabled is NOT a death sentence... The ONLY way we would Cull an animal is if they are suffering more than not.. Deformity or disability does NOT = Death ... Not in our home... β€οΈβπ©Ή
