"Amazon Hatching EGGspiriment"
UPDATE!!!
**longer post!**
THEY HATCHED!!!
Only ONE that quit inside the incubator... It was the pretty pink blush one π
But these 5 babies In the incubator are All SOOOO FREAKING ADORABLE π
So counting the x2 my broody hen hatched out and these x5 we have a Total of x7 Chicks that Successfully Hatched out from the x12 Eggs !
Of the x12 "AHE", x3 were nonfertilized, x1 quit by day 3, and x1 sadly didn't make it out of lockdown. (Yes I opened the egg to try to assist, if it was still alive, but it was gone. At lockdown it was the only one that had a much smaller air cell, which worried me of course.)
I'll get MUCH better pics -Vids of ALL x7 Chicks that hatched out of the "Assorted-colorful Amazon Fertile Hatching eggs" later today after they are all dry.
This was A FUN EXPERIMENT!!
When I found out you could Actually Order/buy hatching eggs from Amazon, that was "Gane in" and "challenge ACCEPTED"! π
I went down a rabbit hole researching, every listing I could find of "Fertile Hatching eggs" on Amazon first. For over a Week I read through EVERY listing, reviews, pictures, and info and more..
This Specific listing I ordered from had SEVERAL Awesome Breeds and assortments listed as possibilities. Plus ALOT of past sales, and overall REALLY good reviews with pics and vids.
I CAREFULLY chose this One because of all of that, and deemed them "Best" out of all the options (that was in my price range).
And I Do have to say .. I'm
PLEASANTLY SURPRISED!
I made the presumption that if I was lucky I'd get maybe a 25% hatch rate at best with eggs BOUGHT from AMAZON, plus the added risk of Hatching shipping eggs in general.
Boy was I SURPRISED and VERY HAPPY with the results we got!
I'll be making a "Compilation Video" of All our updates from this lil Experiment from Them Arriving, candling, to hatching and going to the brooder.
I'll also continue to update with pics of the chicks feathering out every couple weeks to give us a better chance at Guessing the breeds!
Lol. The listing had SOOOO MANY possibilities of breeds that I'll DEFINITELY be needing assistance in trying to guess the breeds as they grow!
Again, my specialty is mainly ducks, geese and guineas, and the 3 Hens I Do have in Chickens were either a rescue or gifted to us.
Soooo EXCITED!! Can't wait to get these beautiful babes into the brooder!
I have decided yet if I'm going to let Ginny keep them or put them in the brooder..
I think I'm Probably going to put them in the brooder for peace of mind.. being my birds all free range as a whole flock I don't want to chance them getting trampled by ducks or geese, or a possibility of getting hurt in any way .
