Difficulty walking or resting comfortably, excessive panting, appetite changes, withdrawal, anxiety, disrupted sleep, and loss of interest in favorite activities can all signal declining quality of life. However, don't rely on one symptom to decide whether your dog is suffering. Look for patterns in comfort, function, and enjoyment of life—and ask your veterinarian whether the problems you're seeing can be effectively managed.

A home hospice plan for your pet is built on compassion, customization, and empowerment—creating a sanctuary in your own home where your pet's quality of life can be enriched and comfortable, for as long as possible. The journey often begins with a telemedicine visit with a hospice nurse to evaluate your pet's condition, your expectations, and the care environment, and then a follow-up in-person appointment.
