🐾 Pet Math 📦

10 toys? The box wins.

Cats don't always care about whether something is an actual “toy.” Random objects can be interesting because they offer new textures, sounds, movement, and scents to investigate. Sometimes, something unexpected is simply more exciting than the toy sitting right next to it.

So if your cat ignores the toy you just bought and goes straight for something random… that's pretty normal cat behavior. 😸

🐾 Fun Fact Friday! 🐶🐱

Ever notice how your pet's eyes seem to glow in a photo taken with flash? 👀

Both dogs and cats have a reflective layer behind their retinas called the tapetum lucidum. It helps them make better use of available light, which supports their vision in dim conditions.

🐦 When Your Cat Starts Talking to the Birds

Ever hear your cat make a funny little clicking or chattering sound while watching birds through the window?

This behavior is often linked to excitement and hunting instincts. Cats may chatter when they're focused on prey they can see but can't reach. It's thought to be a mix of anticipation and frustration, although the exact reason isn't fully understood.

So if your cat starts making those little noises at the window, they're probably very interested in what's happening outside! 🐾

🐶 Why Does My Dog Lick Me?

If your dog loves giving you kisses, you might wonder what's behind all that licking!

Dogs may lick people for a few different reasons. It can be a way to show affection, get your attention, explore interesting scents and tastes, or simply because they've learned that licking gets a reaction from you. 🐾

So the next time your pup gives you a few extra kisses, there's probably more going on than just saying “I love you!” 💙

🐱 Why Do Cats Hide? 🐾

If your cat likes to disappear into a closet, under the bed, or inside a cozy box, they're not necessarily being antisocial!

Cats often hide because they feel safe and comfortable in quiet, enclosed spaces. Hiding can also be a way to relax, especially when there are new people, loud noises, or changes around the house.

That said, if your cat suddenly starts hiding much more than usual, it can sometimes be a sign that something isn't quite right. 🐾

🍂 Fall is here! 🐶

Ever wonder why your dog wants to sniff every pile of leaves on a walk? 🍁

Dogs experience so much of the world through their noses, and fall brings plenty of new scents to explore. Fallen leaves, damp soil, plants, and wildlife can all give your pup something interesting to investigate.

So this fall, don't be surprised if your dog takes a little extra time to stop and sniff! 🐾
