This week, we want to take a moment to recognize the incredible people who make Cedar Hill Animal Clinic what it is. ❤️

Our veterinary technicians, assistants, and client service representatives and veterinarians are truly the heart of our clinic. Every single day, they show up with compassion, dedication, and an unwavering commitment to our patients, our clients, and one another.

Veterinary medicine isn't always easy. It takes patience, knowledge, teamwork, and a whole lot of heart. We are fortunate to have a team that brings all of those qualities and so much more to work each day. Their skills, kindness, work ethic, and willingness to go above and beyond never go unnoticed.

🎉🐾 CEDAR HILL ANIMAL CLINIC IS GROWING! 🐾🎉

We have some VERY exciting news to share with our Cedar Hill family!

Eight years ago, Cedar Hill Animal Clinic opened its doors with just ONE veterinarian and a vision for something special. Over the years, one doctor became two, two became three, and now, as we celebrate our 8th year in business, we're growing to FOUR! ❤️

Please join us in welcoming our newest veterinarian, Dr. Gabi Hofmann!

We are especially excited that Dr. Hofmann will be seeing exotic patients in addition to dogs and cats! Expanding our exotic animal care is something we're incredibly passionate about, and we're thrilled to have another doctor who shares that passion!

🩺 A Little About Dr. Hofmann

Dr. Hofmann earned her veterinary degree from the University of Illinois in 2017 before completing a Comparative Medicine residency at the University of Missouri, where her training focused on animal welfare, the connection between animal and human health, and evidence-based medicine.

She is passionate about compassionate, individualized care for dogs, cats, and exotic pets, with a special interest in rats and other rodents! She values client education, flexible treatment approaches, and the human-animal bond.

Outside the clinic, she enjoys cooking, gardening, and spending time outdoors with her husband, Brandon, and their sons, Arthur and Simon. Their family also includes a corgi mix, four cats, and three boas!

One thing we want our clients to know is that we don't take the decision to add a new veterinarian lightly.

🦔 Meet Mr. Magoo! ❤️

This adorable little gentleman recently visited us for his very first appointment, and we just HAD to introduce him! 🥹

Mr. Magoo is approximately 2 years old and has quite the story. After being surrendered at another veterinary office, he eventually found his way into the hands of his new family, who brought him to see Dr. Headlee for a wellness exam.

You might notice something a little different about Mr. Magoo… he doesn't have visible eyes! 👀

Mr. Magoo was born with a condition called bilateral microphthalmia, which means both of his eyes developed abnormally small. While he does have tiny amounts of eye tissue present, he is believed to be functionally blind, although he may be able to distinguish light from darkness.

The interesting thing about hedgehogs is that they already rely much more heavily on their senses of smell and hearing than their eyesight to navigate the world around them! 🦔

And Mr. Magoo? Well, he certainly doesn't seem to know he's any different. 😂

During his exam, he was bright, curious, incredibly interactive, and VERY interested in treats! Aside from his unique little eyes, Mr. Magoo received a wonderful report on his overall health.

Although his condition is something he'll have for life, it doesn't currently require surgery or any major medical intervention. His family will just need to keep an eye (no pun intended 🤭) on the area for any irritation or discomfort.

We absolutely LOVE getting to meet unique little patients like Mr. Magoo, and we're so happy this sweet boy has found a family to call his own.

🐾 Another familiar face to officially introduce! 💕

We’ve been working our way through introducing some of the newer faces here at Cedar Hill, and today we’re putting the spotlight on Victoria!

Victoria is a Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) who joined our team a few months ago! She graduated from Bradford Veterinary Technician Institute in 2017 and has been working as a veterinary technician ever since.

One of Victoria’s favorite parts of being an RVT is client education! She loves helping pet owners better understand their animals' health and giving them the knowledge and tools they need to be the best pet parents they can be. ❤️

At home, Victoria has her own little crew of four-legged family members — two dogs, Peanut and Calvin, and two cats, Draco and Mochi! 🐶🐱

When she’s not at the clinic, Victoria enjoys playing video games, reading a good book, fishing, spending time outdoors, and making memories with her boyfriend and family. During the fall and winter months, you can also find her cheering on Ohio State football and Marietta Women’s Basketball! 🏈🏀

Victoria has already been such a wonderful addition to our team! Her experience, compassion, and dedication to helping both pets and their people make her a great fit here at Cedar Hill. We know how much your pets mean to you, and you can feel confident knowing they're in good hands with Victoria! ❤️🐾

Remember Mazzy? 🖤
A few months ago, we shared part of Mazzy’s story and the incredible progress she had already made. Now, about six months into treatment, we had to show you where she is today — because LOOK AT HER. 🥹
Mazzy, formerly Mascara, came into the care of Colony Cats (& dogs) after a severe upper respiratory and eye infection had been left untreated. By the time she was rescued, her eyes had sustained significant damage.
Eye infections associated with upper respiratory disease in cats can become much more serious than redness or discharge. If severe inflammation and infection progress, the cornea — the clear surface of the eye — can become damaged and ulcerated. In serious cases, this can lead to pain, scarring, vision changes, or even loss of the eye.
One of the most interesting parts of Mazzy’s treatment has been:
🩸 Serum eye drops!
Serum is the clear liquid portion of blood that remains after the blood cells and clotting components are removed. It contains proteins, growth factors, vitamins, and other components that can help support corneal healing.
Serum also contains substances that help inhibit enzymes that can break down damaged corneal tissue, which is why it can be especially helpful in certain severe or complicated corneal conditions.
And here’s the part that surprises most people: serum from a healthy donor dog can be processed and used to make ophthalmic drops for a cat. 🐶➡️🐱
Mazzy is still receiving serum drops today.

🦷 This is why we look in your pet’s mouth at every exam!
At Cooper’s routine annual exam, we found a slab fracture of his upper left fourth premolar with pulp exposure.
So, what does pulp exposure actually mean? 🤔
The pulp is the living center of the tooth, containing nerves and blood vessels. When a fracture exposes it, the tooth is no longer just “broken” — it can be painful and provides a pathway for bacteria to enter the tooth and potentially cause infection.
Cooper was scheduled for a dental procedure so we could address his fractured tooth, fully evaluate the rest of his mouth, and give those teeth a thorough cleaning. And just LOOK at that before & after! ✨🦷

🐾 Dr. Mann Update! 🐾

Dr. Mann has officially been part of the Cedar Hill team for about a month now, and we couldn’t be happier to have her here! 💙

She has such a calm, gentle presence with her patients, and as you can probably tell from these photos… her patients seem to feel it too. 🥹🐾 She has settled right in, and we’ve loved watching her build relationships with both our patients and their people. Our clients have had so many wonderful things to say about her already!

And some exciting news — Dr. Mann is now seeing exotic patients as well! 🐰🦎🐹🐦
