2027: The Year of Your Cat. 😻 We’re just days away from the launch of our online auction, where you’ll have a chance (or twelve) to make your feline bestie the meowdel of the month!

As we say goodbye to summer, let’s help these kitties say hello to new families!

Rick James, Eminem, Ghirardelli Brownies, Nyon and Daphnea have all spent at least one week in our Adoption Center. They’re ready to go home, and you can help make that happen! Tag or share this post with your friends to get the word out, and maybe their future adopters will take notice…

We saw lots of cats coming and going last month – 155, to be precise. Since it’s peak kitten season, 126 of our newly adopted alumni are under 6 months old. But 11 adolescent and 18 adult* cats also stole some hearts! Congratulations to all the families that just got bigger. 😻

*Adolescent = 6 months to 1 year old.

Last week, we asked our community to help us honor the lives of the pets who changed ours. Our Pet Remembrance Board filled with names, faces, and stories reflecting a lifetime of love.

During this time, we invited you to make tributes to your companions, so Rescue kitties can have the chance to experience that same love. You answered, helping us raise $22,597 for medical care, foster resources, and ongoing support for homeless kitties.

Thank you for sharing the pets close to your heart and passing that love on to cats who need a second chance. We are continually grateful to be part of such a compassionate community. ♥️

This week began with Mouse and James, two cats who went home together and became best friends. As the week comes to a close, we’re celebrating another pair who went home together yesterday: Balderdash and Beach Ball.

During our fee-waived adoption days, made possible by the ASPCA Rescue Effect, Andrew welcomed both kittens home. He wrote to tell us they were settling right in and already making life a little brighter.

That is the bond we have honored all week: the way pets change our days, our homes, and our lives.

Because of you, 65 tributes were shared online, our remembrance boards filled with names, photographs, and stories, and more than $22,000 was raised for cats at SAFe.

To everyone who remembered a beloved pet, gave in their honor, or welcomed someone new: thank you for showing us how much love this community can hold.

Today is Rainbow Bridge Remembrance Day 🌈. We are remembering the pets who changed our lives - and celebrating the community that showed up for them.

As of 10 a.m., this community has raised $20,383 for cats at SAFe, including the full $10,000 Mouse & James’s Match. Together, you carried The Pets Who Changed Us beyond its $20,000 goal - a beautiful tribute to two best friends who stayed side by side through everything.

You also created this.

More than 40 tributes have been shared online, with even more memories added here in our Adoption Center. Lily’s endless kisses and snuggles. Frankie’s sofa somersaults. Guppy’s sweet little chirp-meow and snaggletooth. Each name, photograph, and detail has made this board a place where deeply loved pets can be remembered together.

The board has not changed how much we miss them. It has changed how alone we feel in missing them.

Thank you to everyone who gave, shared a memory, visited the board, or simply made room for someone else’s grief. You have shown us what this community can hold.
