At this time, we are limiting services such as toenail trims and sanitrims to patients that are here for physical exams or for those where it is medically necessary. This is just a temporary "paws", and we hope to offer these services again in the near future!

Looking for cat grooming in our area? Our clients recommend Probable Claws in Everett or Salon Meow in Edmonds!

When you need labs drawn, you see a phlebotomist. If you need x-rays, you'll work with an x-ray technician. If you need medications, a pharmacist takes care of that for you. And if you're checking in for a doctor's appointment, you'll meet with a nurse. Well, veterinary assistants do ALL of that and even more! Our vet assistants help doctors, restrain patients, draw blood, take x-rays, help with surgeries, fill medications -- the list goes on and on. We are so proud of the amazing work our team of veterinary assistants do every day! Join us in thanking them for their hard work and dedication to every kitty patient that passes through our doors 😻

This week is Veterinary Receptionist Week!

Veterinary receptionists are often the first and last point of contact during a vet visit and are an essential part of any vet team. They triage patients during phone calls, set up appointments, give helpful advice, respond to e-mails, help clients out in our store -- the list is never ending! We are so thankful to have a talented team of receptionists at our clinic - be sure to thank them the next time you're in!

Have you ever wondered why so many of our Tongues Out Tuesday photos are taken on dental procedure days and often feature cats with big, round pupils?

Controlling pain is very important for our patients, so all cats having dental procedures with us - or any surgical procedure at that! - will receive pre-surgical pain medications. The pain medication we use does result in dilated pupils, which is why so many of our Tongues Out Tuesday models look like they are staring off into the ether!

The combination of pain medications and dental extractions can often result in a cat sticking their tongue out - aka blepping! This means dental days are the perfect day to catch cats in everyone's favorite pose.

Here's Obi, demonstrating the perfect combination of big eyes and a small blep following a dental procedure. Looking good, Obi!

This week is Pet Poison Prevention Week, which means it's a good time to double check your home and make sure it is kittyproof! There are lots of other products out there that are not safe for our feline friends, and this is a good place to start:

• Lilies are the #1 toxic substance we see cat comes in contact with. Every part of the Asiatic and Daylilies are toxic. Even just grooming pollen off their fur can result in irreversible kidney damage. If you have a cat, don't keep lilies in the home!
• Many human medications, including simple OTC pain relievers like Tylenol, are dangerous to cats. Never give a non-prescribed medication to your cat without guidance from your veterinarian!
• Never use a flea and tick product designed for dogs on a cat! These products often contain Permethrin, which is safe for dogs but highly toxic to cats.

Together, we can keep our cats safe!
