Dr. Donovan, one of our board-certified internists, recently performed a PCCL (percutaneous cystolithotomy) procedure on a dog named Pepper to remove bladder stones.

Traditionally, bladder stones are removed through a cystotomy, which requires a larger incision into both the abdomen and the bladder. A PCCL is a minimally invasive alternative that uses a small abdominal incision and a tiny bladder incision, along with camera-guided equipment, to remove the stones. This approach can reduce surgical trauma and allows for a thorough examination of the bladder to help ensure all stones are removed.

In Pepper's case, Dr. Donovan was able to successfully retrieve all of the stones using a specialized retrieval basket, avoiding the need for a larger surgical incision. Because of the minimally invasive nature of the procedure, Pepper was able to go home the same day and be with her family! ❤️

Meet Iko! 💙

This handsome Siberian Husky came to our ER with a traumatic soft tissue injury, painful abdomen, vomiting, regurgitation, inappetence, and lameness. Our ER team worked closely with our Surgery and Radiology Department, where a CT, wound debridement, and evaluation were performed.

Thankfully, there was no evidence of abdominal disease, but we did find a severe infection affecting Iko’s leg. Further diagnostics also showed that his blood was not clotting properly and that he had dangerously low platelet levels. This led to him receiving a plasma transfusion to support his recovery.

Over the following days, our team performed multiple wound debridements to remove damaged and necrotic tissue. Despite everyone’s efforts, the infection was ultimately too severe, and the decision was made to amputate Iko’s affected leg.

In the days following the surgery, he also received two photobiomodulation (commonly known as cold laser) treatments to help decrease pain and inflammation while promoting healing.

After spending more than 10 days in the hospital, Iko was able to go home 🎉 He still sees us for rechecks to make sure that everything is healing as it should.

We are incredibly proud of this brave boy and his family and wish him a smooth and speedy recovery!💙

This sweet girl, Baja, came to our ER for chronic diarrhea. After multiple imaging studies and diagnostic tests, our team discovered an unrelated mass in one of her lung lobes.

Baja underwent a lung lobectomy, during which Dr. Howser successfully removed the affected lung lobe. Since surgery, she's been recovering well and has been soaking up all the cuddles from our team ❤️

We have loved taking care of Baja and wish her many happy, healthy adventures ahead!

Katara recently came to see one of our board-certified surgeons, Dr. Howser, for a cranial cruciate ligament (CCL) tear. To confirm the diagnosis, Dr. Howser performed an arthroscopy—a minimally invasive procedure that uses a tiny camera inserted through a small incision—to examine the knee joint.

Once the CCL tear was confirmed, Dr. Howser proceeded with a TPLO (Tibial Plateau Leveling Osteotomy) to help stabilize Katara's knee and get her back on the road to recovery.

Just hours after surgery, Katara was already sitting up and singing for everyone to hear! 🎶 We're so happy she's doing well and wish her a smooth recovery as she gets back to enjoying life on all four paws!

This friendly face belongs to Ari! She is one of the clinic's amazing veterinary assistants. When she is not at the hospital, she enjoys snowboarding, traveling, photography, and dancing.

Ari's favorite part of her job is working in 5 different departments and getting to apply and learn new skills every day!

This sweet girl, Jessi, suffered severe injuries to her nose, lip, and face after a traumatic dog attack. After an emergency evaluation and pain management at the Veterinary Emergency Group, she was transferred to our team for emergent surgical care.

Dr. Brasali, one of our board-certified surgeons, performed a complex nasolabial reconstruction with a stent placement in an attempt to reconstruct Jessi's nasal passages and reconnect her facial tissue.

Over the next few months, 3 more surgeries were performed that consisted of a lip advancement, nasal cartilage removal, and a nasal or***ce widening to ensure that Jessi can breathe comfortably.

This journey for Jessi and her family has not been an easy one, but our team is inspired by their resilience. We are honored to be trusted with her care and we will continue to hope for a smooth healing ❤️
