A Day In The Life of a Veterinary Technician:
8 am appointments for routine blood work or vaccines. An emergency walks in the door. Get the oxygen. Triage the patient. Stabilize the patient and call the doctor. Together generate a treatment plan. Reassure the client. The new student intern asks their questions. Stop to teach the student then back to patient. IV catheter placed. Head to radiology. A second doctor needs assistance in the OR. A third doctor needs their patient brought into the exam room for a routine wellness exam and vaccines. Time to order more drugs and vaccines. Call backs are squeezed in between appointments. More back to back appointments and still working on the emergency walk in. A scheduled euthanasia is coming in and its one of your favorite patients like all of them. Everyone is sad and everyone comes to say goodbye. Your heart is broken and then a new puppy is next on the appointment schedule. Emotions are constantly challenged on a daily basis. Time for lunch... maybe. Then more appointments and post op care for all the surgical patients. More teaching and mentoring the new student. Many hats are worn by these amazing highly skilled individuals They do this every day. So please be kind and thank them the next time you see them. They deserve our praise!

We will be closing at 1pm this Thursday, October 22nd so our staff can enjoy a special event together! 🐾

If you are experiencing an emergency with your pet and we are closed, please contact MedVet/Norwalk at 203-838-6626 or Cornell University Veterinary Specialists/Stamford at 203-595-2777.

We appreciate your understanding and continued support, and we apologize for any inconvenience.

Every year, we honor our veterinary technicians and assistants on Vet Tech Week. Truthfully, we should honor them every single day. They are the backbone of the hospital, the behind the scenes heroes and the expertly skilled compassionate individuals that work so hard every day to help their patients. They work in tandem with the doctors. Thank you Karen, Patricia, Sarah and Emma. We are so grateful to you for all you do for the practice, the clients and our beloved patients. Happy Vet Tech Week!!

We had a visit from the infamous Benny of Benny's Backyard - Daycare & Boarding . It was time for his annual physical exam. He had a great check up and even enjoyed the treats we offered him .
