Congratulations to our latest Patio Dog graduates! 🍻🐾

Shenanigan, Duke, and Tex all earned their Level 1 Drink With Your Dog titles, while Ava leveled up and earned her Level 2 title! 🎓👏

Throughout the class, these teams worked with trainer Cheryl on taking their training into a real-world patio environment—practicing settling, manners, handler focus, and navigating the distractions that come along with hanging out in public.

A big thank you to Fattey Beer Co. in Amherst for welcoming our teams and giving us such a great place to practice!

October Patio dog registration is open! Prerequisite includes HDO 1 level 1.

🐶 Puppy Pre-K — Puppy School with a Flexible Schedule!

Our Puppy Pre-K classes are drop-in style, so you can choose the day and time that works best for you each week. No need to commit to the same class time for an entire session!

Puppy Pre-K helps your puppy build important foundations during those early months while giving you the skills to continue their training at home.

In class, we work on:
🐾 Basic manners and foundation skills
🐾 Handling and cooperative care
🐾 Confidence building
🐾 Appropriate socialization and exposure to new experiences
🐾 Engagement and focus around distractions
🐾 Puppy-specific challenges like biting, jumping, and settling

Plus, puppies who complete the program earn their AKC STAR Puppy title! ⭐

Congratulations to our newest House Dog Obedience Level 3: Mutt About Town graduates! 🎓🐾

Pretzel, Charlie, Freyja, and Confetti wrapped up their class with trainer Jules and, naturally, we had to take advantage of the Halloween decorations at Lowe’s for their graduation photos. 🎃👻

HDO Level 3 is all about taking the skills learned in earlier classes out into the real world, practicing around everyday distractions, and building dogs and handlers who can confidently navigate public spaces together.

Great job, teams!

May worked through her final search of our Under Pressure: Dog-to-Dog Pressure Workshop, sourcing her hides before facing one more challenge as she exited the search area.

When Atlas appeared unexpectedly, May’s handler practiced calmly managing the encounter, keeping May engaged and giving her a clear job while the other team passed by.

These are exactly the kinds of moments that can catch teams off guard at a trial—another dog coming around a corner, crossing a pathway, or moving between staging and search areas. Practicing them ahead of time gives handlers strategies they can reach for when the unexpected happens!

We had so much fun at our recent Nose Work Mock Trial, co-hosted with NoseWork & Engagement! 👃🐾

Teams got to put their skills to the test across Interior, Exterior, Container, and Vehicle searches, working through a variety of search areas and odor puzzles.

The elusive ground hide strikes again!

With two benches in the search area, handlers may come in with a preconceived idea that the hide is probably somewhere on a bench—but this hide was tucked into a crack in the ground between them.

Add in a search area set right along the water, and there was another environmental challenge to work through. Some dogs found the water much more distracting than others, which is exactly why practicing in different environments is so valuable.

Nose Work is about learning to trust the dog in front of you rather than searching based on where you think the hide should be!
