Scout's Honor rescues animals from city pounds, including animals from various animal shelters in the Houston and surrounding areas. Scout's Honor also takes in animals living on the streets. We do not limit our program to healthy animals or particular breeds, and we often save animals from abusive situations. ving, permanent homes so that they can receive the love and attention they sorely deserve. Since our formation, Scout's Honor has rescued over 900 animals and currently has over 80 dogs and cats in our program! Scout's Honor's rescue program is "foster based"; that is, each of the animals we rescue is placed in a temporary foster home, where it receives much-needed love, care, and structure while it waits for its permanent home. We could not exist without our wonderful foster parents. Unfortunately, Scout's Honor is unable to take in each animal about which we are contacted. We simply do not have enough money, fosters, or other necessary resources to help all the stray and neglected animals in the Houston area (and, believe us, there are an overwhelming number of needy animals in Houston!). Our ability to take in a dog or cat depends on our current funding, our volunteers, and whether we have an available foster home. Many times we are forced to close our intake when we run low on any of these. We never wish to turn away an animal in need, but sometimes we do not have the luxury to choose. ✨ PHINEAS UPDATE ✨
We have the BEST news — Phineas is continuing to do AMAZING 🥹💛 and through everything he’s been through, he is still the happiest, sweetest boy.
He’s almost ready to be discharged from VERGI… but now he needs his next hero — a medical foster.
This boy cannot go to boarding. He needs a clean, safe home where he can continue healing — someone who can help keep his wounds clean and take him to VERGI for regular bandage changes as he recovers. It sounds scary, we know… but you are NOT alone. We will guide you every step of the way and cover everything he needs.
Because of YOU, he made it this far. Truly. Your donations gave him a chance at life, and we are endlessly grateful. But his journey isn’t over yet — his care will be ongoing, and we are still raising funds to support his recovery.

Update on sweet boy Midnight—now Phineas 🤍
Honestly… it’s worse than we ever imagined from the original photos. Phineas has been at Vergi 24/7 Emergency Animal Hospital receiving critical care, and last night he had to be under anesthesia for 3 hours just for them to begin cleaning his wounds.
He has extensive necrotic tissue that will need to be surgically removed, meaning he will have to go under anesthesia again. His wounds are deep, severely infected, and incredibly painful—no dog should ever have to endure something like this. He has been failed over and over again by the people who were supposed to protect him.
And yet… through all of this… he still gave us little tail wags.
There is currently an investigation into his previous owners, and we are hoping for justice for everything he has endured. Right now, our focus is giving Phineas every possible chance to survive and heal.
We desperately need help. Even with only 48 hours at VERGI, his bill has already exceeded $6,000, and he will likely need several more days of intensive care, procedures, and treatment.

🚨 EXTREMELY URGENT – THIS IS A LIFE OR DEATH SITUATION 🚨
We are begging you to please stop and read this.
This sweet boy has been through unimaginable cruelty. He was found at an apartment complex covered in blood, in horrific condition. Animal cruelty officers were called, and when they arrived, they located the owner—who signed him over to BARC.
This case is now under investigation, and they are asking the DA to press charges. From what we’ve been told so far, this baby was constantly abused—kicked, hit, and mistreated. 💔
And on top of all of that… he was nearly mauled to death and then left to suffer like that for an entire week. A WEEK.
By the time help came, he was already in critical condition. The shelter is not a place for a dog this injured, this fragile.
He is now being rushed to Vergi Emergency Veterinary Hospital for emergency, life-saving care.
We are going to be honest—we don’t know if he will make it. That is how bad his condition is. But we are going to give him every single chance we can.
💔 He will need to stay at VERGI for days, possibly longer.
💔 The medical costs are going to be extremely high.
💔 We cannot do this without you.

Reintroducing Cooper 🤍
Imagine this… you think you’ve finally found your forever home. Then suddenly you’re back at the shelter. A few days later, you’re placed on the euthanasia list. Then you’re put on hold because your owners come back for you… just for a few weeks later, they turn you in all over again.
That’s Cooper’s reality.
This boy has been failed more times than we can count—and not because of anything he did. His whiskers even appear to have been cut or shaved off. And instead of being truly loved, he was used as a prop… adopted by influencers who seemed more focused on “looking good” and gaining followers than actually committing to a dog.
Cooper did NOTHING to deserve this.
Through it all, he has remained insanely sweet, so loving, and incredibly calm. He’s a big Doberman boy—about 70 pounds and still skinny—with his ears and tail, and the goofiest personality. He loves being right next to you soaking up attention, but he’s also enjoyed running a few sprints and showing off his playful side 🐾
Despite everything, Cooper still chooses to trust. He still chooses to love.
We can’t change what he’s been through… but we can make sure his future is everything his past wasn’t.
Cooper deserves someone who will truly mean it when they say forever 🤍

Nova 🤍✨A name meaning new… new beginnings. And that’s exactly what this sweet girl deserves. The moment we looked into her eyes, we felt it—pure heartbreak. The kind that sits heavy in your chest. While we don’t know everything Nova has been through, we know enough to understand it wasn’t kind. She was used, likely bred over and over, her babies taken from her, her body neglected. The way her spine arches tells a story of being confined to a space far too small for far too long. She trembles at a new touch. She cowers, unsure. But if you give her just a few minutes… you start to see it. The hope.The want to trust. And that is everything. In just 10 minutes, Nova began to soften. Gentle little kisses. Slowly inching closer. Rolling onto her back, asking for love in the only way she knows how. It was like watching her heart try again—and it’s something we will never take for granted. Nova is going to need someone patient. Someone calm. Someone willing to give her the time to truly decompress and learn that this world can be safe… that hands can be kind… that she will never be hurt or abandoned again. Watching her story unfold is going to be something so special. We already know she’s going to blossom into the most incredible girl.
She’s estimated to be around 3 years old (possibly even younger), and she is so ready for her real life to begin.

Meet our gorgeous girl, Calypso 🌊✨
We pulled this sweet baby just a few days ago and we are already completely obsessed. She came into the shelter skin and bones—so, so hungry—but you would never guess it from her spirit. This girl is pure JOY. 💛
Calypso is HILARIOUS, full of personality, and absolutely adores people. She wants to be right by your side at all times—total velcro girl energy (just like a true Doberman 🐾). She already knows “sit” and is working on “easy”… although when treats are involved, she sometimes grabs a little too enthusiastically and accidentally gets your hand too 😂
She has shown zero aggression—only love, happiness, and a whole lot of wiggles. She is estimated to be around 3 years old, but she has such a playful, puppy-like spirit so she may be younger. She’s great with other dogs, and cats are still unknown.

Meet Lulu 🤍🐾
Lulu is a 2.5-year old mix with the sweetest soul and the cutest little quirks. With her stunning mismatched eyes and soft white coat covered in black spots, she’s truly one of a kind. Her favorite place? Curled up right next to you on the couch, soaking up all the love 💕
She can be a little shy when meeting new people, but give her a little time and you’ll see her silly, goofy personality shine through. Once she trusts you, she’s all love, wiggles, and pure joy 🥹
Lulu does great with other dogs and is still discovering her favorite toys—right now she’s obsessed with Lambchop and anything that squeaks 🧸🎾 She’s also been doing amazing gaining weight and working on her potty training like a champ!
Lulu would thrive in a patient, loving home that will help her continue to build confidence and feel safe.

How could anyone say no to a mama Rottie like this?🥹 Meet our beautiful girl, Delta (name TBD 🤍). We pulled her from the shelter this morning, and while we don’t know her full story… her body tells enough. She’s skin and bones, her spine showing signs of being confined for far too long, and it’s clear she’s been used for litter after litter. Her eyes… they absolutely shattered us.
But even through the fear, she’s trying. Within minutes, she started inching closer—unsure, but so brave. She flinches at touch and cowers down, yet there’s a sweetness in her that you can feel instantly. This girl wants to trust. And we promise, we’re going to show her just how good life can be. ✨
Delta is currently decompressing in boarding, but we would LOVE to find her a patient, loving foster once she’s ready. She’s good with other dogs and just needs someone willing to go slow and give her all the love she’s never had.
We couldn’t have saved her without our amazing partnership with Fondren 5 Star Pet Resort—this is what teamwork looks like, and it’s what saves lives. 🐾

Say hello to our two newest (and most stunning) rescues 🐾🤍Meet Cooper & Calypso — two Dobermans who didn’t come in together, but share the same story of being let down 💔
Cooper is our big, handsome red boy (71 lbs, ~4 years old) with the sweetest soul. Once a stray, then “saved,” then given up again… he’s been passed around far too much for a dog who just wants to be loved. Even his whiskers have been cut 😔 but somehow, his spirit is still so gentle and trusting.
Calypso, our beautiful black & tan girl (~3 years old, 45 lbs), came in completely skin and bones. She’s a total Velcro baby — all she wants is to be close, to feel safe, and to be loved again. We know she was a mama, and now it’s her turn to be cared for 🥺
Despite everything, both of these babies are SO incredibly sweet and deserve the world. We cannot wait to watch them heal and find the forever families they’ve always deserved 🏡✨ They are both looking for fosters right now — and we truly couldn’t have saved them without our amazing new partnership with Fondren 5 Star Pet Resort 🐾 Every single day, incredible dogs lose their lives due to space… but partnerships like this give dogs like Cooper & Calypso a second chance 💫
