Meet Wonder, the 2026 CSU football tee dog! 🐶🏈

She’s back on the field this season, retrieving the football tee at kickoff and again at the start of the second half. We’re proud to sponsor her tee dog duties and be part of this fun CSU tradition.

She recently visited our Primary Care team for her annual wellness exam to make sure she was football-season ready. So when she’s not busy helping kick off game day, she’s in good hands with the veterinary team she knows and trusts.

Your vet may be talking about leptospirosis more often lately. There’s a reason. 🐶💉

August is National Immunization Awareness Month, and leptospirosis is now a core vaccine for dogs according to American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA) guidelines.

🦠 Lepto can cause serious kidney and liver disease in dogs and can also affect people.
💧 How are dogs exposed? Typically through contaminated water where infected animals have been.
🏡 Could your dog still be at risk? Yes. Exposure doesn't require a close encounter with wildlife.
💉 What about vaccine reactions? Today’s lepto vaccines have been reformulated, and reported adverse reactions are uncommon.

Boots is putting his hoofprint on the future of cancer care for goats.

When 13.5-year-old Boots was diagnosed with a thymoma, our livestock team partnered with specialists in radiation oncology, anesthesiology, cardiology, and diagnostic imaging to create a treatment plan tailored to his unique case.

After six rounds of palliative radiation therapy, Boots' tumors shrank dramatically. At a recent follow-up, Boots got great news! The advanced imaging showed no evidence of tumor remaining, and additional testing ruled out a serious heart complication the team had been monitoring. 👏

What started as a routine dental concern turned into something much more serious for Hopper.

During his annual wellness exam, the CSU primary care team noticed that the swelling along Hopper's gums looked suspicious and referred him to the Dentistry and Oral Surgery Service.

At his consultation, the team was immediately concerned that the swelling could be an oral tumor. A biopsy under anesthesia and advanced imaging provided the answer: Hopper had a conventional ameloblastoma, a type of oral tumor that often has an excellent prognosis when treated with surgery.

Hopper underwent a partial maxillectomy to remove the tumor. Like many dogs, he recovered remarkably well after surgery. And today, he's back to being himself, with only a subtle indentation in his muzzle.

His story is an important reminder that if something doesn't look right, don't wait. A biopsy can be the key to getting answers and starting the right treatment plan.
