🌟✨ We had a very special visitor today… Maisy the Speech and Language Therapy Cat! ✨🌟
Today we were delighted to welcome the wonderful Maisy for a visit! 💛 While Maisy was with us for something completely unrelated, we couldn’t miss the opportunity to share a little about her very important role as a Speech and Language Therapy Cat.
Therapy animals like Maisy can have such a positive impact, helping people to feel calm, supported and more confident. Animals can reduce anxiety, encourage communication and connection, and bring comfort in ways that make a real difference.
Maisy works alongside her human mum, Hazel, who helps people with their speech, language and communication needs. Together, they support people in building confidence, developing communication skills and creating positive experiences through speech and language therapy. 🐱✨
A message from Maisy’s mum, Hazel:
“Maisy has worked alongside me in my Paediatric Speech and Language Therapy Practice in Warndon Villages since I adopted her in 2020. She has a phenomenal instinct with the children I work with and is exceptionally friendly, inquisitive and placid in nature. She genuinely seems to love being around children and naturally gravitates towards them when she senses they may need a little extra support or reassurance.
She will often sit calmly beside a child or gently nudge them to encourage interaction, helping sessions feel more relaxed, engaging and fun. Children are incredibly drawn to her and she has a wonderful way of helping them feel at ease without ever being intrusive or overwhelming.
Maisy is also very responsive and happily follows simple commands such as “sit” and “come”, which further supports children’s engagement and interaction during sessions.
Maisy has become an integral part of my therapy set-up and a hugely valued member of the team. I honestly could not imagine doing this work without her.
I would also highly recommend Ambleside Vets, who have always taken great care of Maisy. They have consistently been kind, supportive and attentive and I have complete trust in the care they provide her.”
