🐱❄️ANTIFREEZE: A DEADLY WINTER DANGER FOR CATS! ⚠️

Did you know that even a tiny amount of antifreeze can be fatal to cats?

Many antifreeze products contain ethylene glycol, a highly toxic chemical that can cause severe kidney damage.

🐾How are cats exposed?
Cats can ingest antifreeze by drinking from contaminated puddles or simply grooming their paws after walking through a spill.

🚨Signs of poisoning include:

Vomiting or drooling
Wobbliness or loss of balance
Lethargy or weakness
Increased thirst

⚠️DON'T WAIT FOR SYMPTOMS!
If you suspect your cat has been exposed to antifreeze, contact your vet immediately. Early treatment could save their life.

💚Help prevent poisoning:
✅Clean up spills immediately.
✅Check vehicles for leaks.
✅Store antifreeze securely.
✅Choose ethylene glycol-free alternatives where possible.

🍗🐾 SPECIAL DELIVERY: ONE BOX OF EXTRA CRISPY CHICKEN NUGGETS! 🐾🍗

We promise we haven't started serving takeaway at Vets for Pets Worcester... although we did have a rather delicious-looking delivery! 😂💚

This adorable little bundle of curly-haired cuteness came to visit us for their first vaccinations and microchips, getting them ready for the next big adventure: heading off to their forever homes! 🏡🐶

As tempting as it was to keep the entire box (purely for quality control, obviously 👀), we made sure each little nugget received plenty of cuddles and attention during their visit.

💚 Did you know? Your puppy's first vaccinations are an important step in protecting them against serious infectious diseases, while microchipping helps ensure they can be identified and reunited with you if they ever go missing.

We wish these gorgeous little nuggets a lifetime of love, adventures and belly rubs with their new families! 🥹🐾

🍂AUTUMN WALKIES WARNING🐕

Crisp air and crunchy leaves are starting to appear, but the woodland floor is hiding three major "snack toxic traps" your dog can easily pick up, chew, or swallow:
🌰Conkers: Contain toxic aesculin. They can cause severe poisoning, choking, or dangerous blockages in the gut.
🌳Acorns: Can cause serious oak poisoning (tannic acid), leading to severe vomiting, diarrhoea, and kidney damage.
🍄Wild Mushrooms: Autumn is prime fungi season. Many are toxic or deadly, and they are almost impossible to tell apart at a glance.

💡Quick Safety Tips:
Keep them close: Use a short lead in heavy woodland or near oak and chestnut trees.
Train 'Leave It': Practice a rock-solid refusal command.
Act fast: If you suspect they ate any, call your vet immediately (and snap a quick photo of the mushroom!).

🐾 Puppy cuddles in reception! 🐶❤️

Anouska couldn't resist the opportunity for some German Shepherd puppy cuddles when the lovely Riley came in for her first visit with us!

Riley also got off to a great start by signing up to our Health Care Plan and receiving 5 weeks' free insurance with Agria during her visit.

🐾 The 5 Welfare Needs – Protection from Pain, Suffering, Injury and Disease

One of the most important parts of responsible pet ownership is protecting our animals from preventable illness, injury and pain.

This includes preventative healthcare such as vaccinations, parasite protection, dental care and regular health checks.

Animals can't always tell us when something is wrong, so recognising changes in their behaviour, appetite or usual routine is really important.

Early veterinary advice can help identify potential problems and make sure your pet receives the care they need.
