• Fast or laboured breathing

If you’re worried your pet may be struggling in the heat, contact us immediately.

Enjoy the sunshine safely ☀️

Veterinary nursing is far more than cuddling puppies and kittens…

But sometimes, it is that 💙

Sometimes our patients need someone to lean on.
A cuddle after a stressful moment.
A reassuring presence.
Or just somebody willing to hand out treats in exchange for emotional support.

Behind every appointment is care that goes far beyond the consult room.

These small moments of comfort, patience and kindness are just as important as the clinical care we provide.

Because for many pets, feeling safe matters too.

❤ Meet Dennis🐾

When Dennis’ owners brought him to see us after noticing a lump in his armpit, he was otherwise feeling completely normal at home. During his examination, we found that the “lump” was actually an enlarged lymph node — and several other lymph nodes were enlarged too.

We collected samples from the lymph nodes using a fine needle aspiration (a simple technique where cells are collected with a small needle and examined under a microscope). The results raised concern for lymphoma, which was later confirmed as a large B-cell lymphoma using a specialised laboratory test called flow cytometry. This test helps identify different types of lymphocytes (a type of white blood cell) based on their size and surface markers.

Large B-cell lymphoma is the most common form of lymphoma seen in dogs. Although it can progress quickly, the good news is that it often responds very well to chemotherapy.

After careful discussion with Dennis’ family, we started him on a CHOP chemotherapy protocol — a treatment plan that uses several chemotherapy medications on a carefully timed schedule over 25 weeks. In total, Dennis visited us an incredible 32 times during his treatment journey, so it’s safe to say we all became very fond of him along the way!

Throughout his treatment, Dennis was an absolute superstar. Most importantly, we are thrilled to share that he is now in remission from his lymphoma. 🎉

Cases like Dennis’ are an important reminder that dogs with lymphoma can often appear completely normal at first, with enlarged lymph nodes being the only sign. Early investigation of new lumps or swellings can make a huge difference.

We’re so proud of Dennis and look forward to seeing him again for many happy preventative healthcare visits in the future ♥
