How do you stop buying your dog every toy you see? Asking for a friend 🐶

Poor Bodie was seriously unwell when she arrived at our Vets Now Glasgow Hospital, suffering from vomiting, loss of appetite and very low energy.

After carrying out tests, our team discovered that Bodie had developed diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA), a life-threatening complication of diabetes, as well as pneumonia. 😥

But what exactly is diabetic ketoacidosis?

DKA occurs when the body doesn't have enough insulin to use glucose for energy. Instead, it begins breaking down fat, producing substances called ketones. When these build up in the blood, they can make it dangerously acidic.

Signs can include vomiting, loss of appetite, extreme tiredness and dehydration. It's a serious condition that requires urgent veterinary treatment.

Bodie spent five days in intensive care, receiving round-the-clock care from our Internal Medicine, Emergency and Critical Care, and Diagnostic teams.

Thankfully, we're delighted to share that Bodie is now back home and feeling much more like herself! ❤️

Her owners are learning how to manage her diabetes with insulin injections, with continued support from our Internal Medicine team.

Well done, Bodie! 🐾

Meet this adorable girl, Amber. 🥺

She visited us after her owner noticed she had been straining to pass faeces and what was believed to be red swelling around Amber's bottom.

Looking like a partial re**al prolapse, Amber had to undergo general anaesthetic to get this sorted. 🩺

We're so glad we were there for Amber and her family. She was lively and vocal and enjoyed many cuddles from our team during her time here. 🌟
