🐾 Sunshine alert… Ivy is in the building ☀️💛

The beautiful Ivy popped in today with her aunty vet Sarah for a little check‑in and to pick up more of her medication, and as always, she brought her whole heart with her.

This sweet, loving girl is so at home with us at the clinic. She knows the routine, she knows the people, and she knows exactly how to collect every hug, fuss and bit of attention going. Honestly, she melts the room the moment she arrives.

And today? She left with a brand‑new toy… which she clung onto like it was the most precious treasure in the world. No chance of anyone prising that away from her.

Ivy, you are a ray of sunshine. We adore seeing you and we’re already looking forward to your next visit 💛🐶

🖤🤍 Sweet little Peter absolutely stole our hearts today 🖤🤍

This wonderful ball of fun came in for his second vaccination and, honestly, he brightened up the whole clinic the moment he arrived. Peter has one of those spirits that just radiates joy, playful, curious, full of charm, the kind of kitten who makes you smile without even trying.

He was found as a tiny stray near the tip, and his lovely hoomans took him in and never looked back. Watching him now, confident and happy, you’d never guess how his story began. He’s grown into the most delightful little character… and as you can clearly see from his video, he thinks a vet visit is basically a fun day out.

Peter was so brave for his vaccination, took everything in his stride, and then decided it was time to play. A proper little joy‑spark.

Peter, you are just so cute — thank you for making our day. 🖤🤍🐾

🎆🐶 Noise Phobia Evening: Let’s Help Our Dogs Feel Safe 🎶💛

Thursday the 20th November at 6:30pm

We know the main event is here… but with Firework Night just around the corner, we wanted to talk about noise phobias in general.

Because let’s be honest — fireworks rarely stick to just one night, and the best time to prepare for next year is right now.

That’s why Vet Zoe and Nurse Jo are hosting a FREE noise phobia talk here at the practice!
We’ll be covering practical, easy‑to-use strategies to help your dog feel calmer and more supported during loud, unpredictable noises — with live demonstrations, real‑world tips, and plenty of reassurance.

🧠 What we’ll cover:
• Understanding noise phobia and early warning signs
• How to create a safe space at home
• Simple training games to build confidence
• What to do if your dog shows fear, stress or anxiety behaviours
• Long‑term support to make next year easier

If your dog struggles with fireworks, bangs, or sudden noises, this session is for you.
It’s friendly, practical, and completely free — just bring yourself and your questions.

🐾 Beautiful Bracken 🐾

We couldn’t choose just one photo… because honestly, how could we? Every single picture of Bracken is adorable, so you’re getting all three of her gorgeous puppy‑dog‑face moments today 💙

Bracken popped in to see Nurse Jo for a little catch‑up with her new hoomans, chatting all about how she’s settling into her loving forever home. This wonderful lady was rescued, and she has now fully landed on her paws — safe, adored, and absolutely thriving with her new family.

We’re helping Bracken navigate a few separation‑anxiety worries, but with her brave heart, her devoted hoomans, and a bit of guidance from us, she’s already showing everyone just how resilient and forgiving she is.

Well done, Bracken. You’re a wonderful, gorgeous, gentle soul, and we love seeing you every single time you trot through our door 🐶💙🐾

🐾 Exclusion Diets: What They Are… and Why Luna’s Toast Days Are Over🐾

Like many dogs, Luna has been battling allergies — and chronic inflammation can wreak absolute havoc on the body. We see it show up in all sorts of ways: chronic diarrhoea, itchy skin, repeat ear infections, upset tummies that just won’t settle. One of the most common food allergies we diagnose in pets is actually…chicken.

When a dog is allergic to a protein, their immune system misfires. It treats that protein as an invader, triggering inflammation that can pop up anywhere in the body. That’s where exclusion diets come in.

🌟 So what is an exclusion diet?
It’s a carefully controlled feeding plan where your pet eats one specific, hypoallergenic food and nothing else.** No toast crusts, no treats, no sneaky snacks from the kids. Just the prescribed diet.

🌟 Why is it so strict?
Because even a tiny amount of the wrong protein can trigger the immune system again, undoing all the progress.

🌟 What makes a hypoallergenic diet special?*
A true veterinary hypoallergenic diet uses hydrolysed protein, meaning the protein has been broken down into such tiny pieces that the body doesn’t recognise it as a threat. No recognition = no immune response = no inflammation.

And the proof is in the pudding (or in Luna’s case, the kibble).
After three weeks of chronic colitis, she’s now symptom‑free on her exclusion diet. Her tummy is happy, her energy is back, and she’s feeling like herself again.

Yes, Luna is devastated that her beloved toast is off the menu… but she’s absolutely delighted that we’ve filled her treat jar with part of her daily kibble allowance. As far as she’s concerned, she’s still winning.

🥼 If your pet struggles with chronic tummy issues, skin flare‑ups or repeat ear infections, an exclusion diet might be the key to finally getting answers.
Our veterinary team can guide you through the process and help you choose the right diet for your pet’s needs.

Pop in for a chat — we’re here to help your pets feel their best, from nose to tail. 🐶💙🐾

🐾✨ Listen up… who’s ready for a DOG TRAINING CHALLENGE?!✨🐾

Our behaviourists Jo and Zoe have picked their top three training exercises that are guaranteed to change your dog’s behaviour, no fancy equipment needed, suitable for every age, and perfect for building focus, calmness and connection.

They want you to try these EVERY DAY for TWO WEEKS then show us how you’ve got on (we love videos). And if you smash it, we’ll even show you how to level up each exercise!

1️⃣ Disengagement From the Environment
This one teaches your dog to choose you over distractions.

Throw a single piece of kibble or a treat so your dog can see it and sniff it out.
As soon as they’ve eaten it, make your fun, consistent noise, a click, whistle, kissy sound, anything you can repeat.
The moment they flick their eyes back to you, give a big animated “yessssssss!” and run backwards, feeding 5–6 treats for choosing you.

2️⃣ Pace Changes
Brilliant for improving focus and connection on walks.

Walk in a circle and treat heavily whenever your dog is “with you” and paying attention.
You might need to start fast to keep them engaged.
If they drift off, use the same noise from Exercise 1 to get their attention — and as soon as they look at you… treat treat treat.

3️⃣ Collar Touches
Perfect for dogs who think going back on the lead is a game.

Offer your hand towards your dog.
When they move in to you, reward.
Practise this while walking back at first, it builds confidence and makes lead handling calm, predictable and positive.

🌱 Where to Start
You can do these anywhere, but begin in a low‑level environment like your garden. You might also want to start these exercises with your dog on the lead.
Once your dog understands the game, progress to your walks and real‑life distractions.
