🐪It's World Camel Day! 🐪

On the 22nd of June each year we celebrate World Camel Day to raise awareness about camel conservation - especially the critically endangered Wild Camel and to celebrate the domesticated species that support millions of livelihoods worldwide! 🧡

Many of you may not know that our very own Richard and Emma spent 18 months in Rajasthan, India working with the Help In Suffering charity 26 years ago! 😍Through their hard work and determination they supported the wonderful HIS team to create the Camel Welfare Project which has reached more than 122000 camels across Rajasthan!! 🐪

Some of the incredible work they do includes...
🧡Running mobile camel clinics.
🧡Opening Rajasthan’s first camel hospital.
🧡Running free annual treatment camps.
🧡Providing community education.
🧡Innovation for health, safety and welfare.
🧡Providing rescue and rehabilitation.
🧡Not only do they tend to camels, but they also tend to any animal that needs help!

If you would like to find out some more information about this amazing charity and how you can help then please visit www.helpinsuffering.org 🐪

💜Terrific Tibbs 💜

We LOVE a confident cat and it is safe to say that the gorgeous Tibbs is just that! She was strutting her stuff all around the nurses consult room recently and clearly felt right at home chowing down on lick-e-lix treats! 😍

🐈‍⬛Our team have been trained in gentle handling of felines,
🐈‍⬛We have separate cat and dog waiting areas,
🐈‍⬛We use Pet Remedy calming diffusers and sprays throughout the practice,
🐈‍⬛Our cat ward has been carefully designed with cats needs at the forefront,
🐈‍⬛We understand that cats are highly sensitive and have specific needs,

🆘Staff Training🆘

Every single month our Vets, Nurses and Students take part in a CPR simulation for training purposes. An emergency scenario is laid out and the team work together to perform emergency triage and CPR exactly as they would if it was a real emergency.‼️

We have found these training sessions extremely beneficial because...
✅It makes sure the team is kept up to date with the latest legislation and guidance.
✅It ensures each member of the team confidently knows what to do and how best to help in a variety of different scenarios.
✅It acts as a refresher to any staff members that have not recently been involved in an emergency situation.
✅It gives the team a chance to ask questions and to change things (something that may be difficult during a real emergency)
✅It ensures the whole team can jump in to action as soon as an emergency comes in.

We know how scary it can be when your pet has an emergency and we want to ensure that we can help to the best of our ability! 🫶

🐾 Sam 🐾

And last but not least, finishing off our nursing team we have the wonderful Sam!💙

Sam is a Student Veterinary Nurse who joined us in September 2025 for her placement year from Harper Adams University. She hasn’t got long left with us now before returning back to University for her final year with the aim to qualify and join the RCVS Register of Veterinary Nurses in the Summer of 2027! 🐾

We asked her a few questions to help you get to know her better...

💚What do you like about being a Veterinary Nurse?
'Learning on the job, the practical experience…and all the cake!’

🧡What part of the job do you enjoy the most?
'I enjoy inpatient care the most.'

💙What do you wish more people knew about Veterinary Nurses?
‘That we do more than just holding animals for a vet. '

💛What do you like to do in your spare time?
‘In my spare time I like to read books.’
