👑 A Royal Visit from Little Lilibet!

Meet the adorable Lilibet, who belongs to our very own administrator, Debbie! 🥰

Sharing her name with the late Queen Elizabeth II's affectionate childhood nickname, this little princess certainly deserves the royal treatment!

Lilibet popped in to see our lovely vet Bronwyn for her second vaccination and was given a clean bill of health!

Isn't she beautiful? ❤️

Meet Megan 👋

Say hello to Megan, one of our lovely Registered Veterinary Nurses here at The Market Town Vet! 💚

Megan has had a lifelong love for animals and knew from a young age that she wanted to pursue a career in veterinary nursing. She completed her training through an apprenticeship with us and proudly qualified as a Registered Veterinary Nurse in 2026!

Megan has developed a particular passion for Anaesthesia and Emergency Care and is excited to continue building her knowledge and skills in these areas.

Brachycephalic Obstructive Airway Syndrome (BOAS) can affect flat-faced breeds all year round - not just when the weather is warm.

Breeds such as French Bulldogs, Pugs and Bulldogs can struggle with breathing, exercise and sleep because of their shortened airways.

Breeding practices have meant that their gorgeous faces have been bred to a certain shape (flat-faced), affecting their anatomy and ability to breathe.

Signs to look out for include:

🐾 Noisy breathing or snoring
🐾 Getting tired easily
🐾 Difficulty exercising
🐾 Gagging or regurgitation
🐾 Struggling to settle or sleep comfortably

BOAS surgery can improve airflow and quality of life, and addressing the problem before a crisis occurs can make a real difference.

If you’re concerned about your dog’s breathing, speak to our team about whether a FREE BOAS assessment could help.

Because breathing comfortably shouldn’t be seasonal, and the ability to breathe shouldn’t be less to achieve a certain look ❤️

Two screws for lunch, Huckleberry? That’s a bit hard to swallow! 🐢🔩

Huckleberry, a lovely Horsfield tortoise, came to see us after his appetite took a dip. His X-ray uncovered the surprising reason: two screws, along with some gravel in his tummy. (Gravel is a fairly common finding in tortoises - screws, thankfully, are a less usual extra!)

At his follow-up, the X-ray showed that Huckleberry had passed both screws. A huge relief… but we have to say, ouch! 😬

We’re delighted to share this update on Huckleberry. Watch the video to see him and his X-rays!

Advanced diagnostics don't need to come with unexpected surprises, which is why our CT scans start from £950 for up to two areas.

If you have questions about CT scans or would like to discuss your pet's case, our team is always happy to help - simply give us a call!

Not a before-and-after picture; more little and large 🥰

Sweet little Lyra came in for her first vaccinations this week, and her big brother, Wizard, was there for moral support.

Aren't they incredible!? It is safe to say they were very popular during their visit!

Lyra and Wizard are Large Münsterländers. They are wonderful family dogs (provided you can keep up with their energetic lifestyles!).

Be sure to show them some love in the comments...❤️

Important parking information for clients visiting our Shrewsbury practice ✨

The car park is now managed by UK Parking Control Ltd (UKPC), and its rules apply at all times. Please take a moment to check the signs when you arrive:

We were deeply touched to read about this family’s experience as they cared for their much-loved dog through palliative care and, ultimately, the heartbreak of saying goodbye.

Their kind words about the patience, compassion and support they received mean a great deal to us. We know how difficult it is to navigate that final chapter, and how important it is for pet owners to feel listened to, supported and reassured throughout.

We’re especially grateful to know that they felt comforted knowing every possible option had been explored to give them as much quality time together as possible, and that they continued to receive support through their bereavement.

Thank you for trusting us during such a difficult time, and for sharing your experience with other pet owners. Our pets are family, so we treat them as if they were our own. As an independent and family-owned practice, we hope all our pet owners feel that way too❤️🌈
