We’ve been busy on farm scanning lungs!!
🐄🫁 Why do we lung scan calves?
A calf can look healthy on the outside while already having changes in its lungs.
🔎 Lung ultrasound helps us:
• Detect lung lesions earlier
• Identify calves with hidden pneumonia
• Assess the severity and extent of disease
• Support more targeted treatment decisions
• Monitor recovery and response to treatment
• Build a clearer picture of respiratory health within the group
💡 The benefit? Earlier detection can mean better-informed treatment decisions, improved calf health and potentially fewer long-term consequences of pneumonia.
Don’t just listen to the lungs, look at them. 🫁🐄

Thanks to all!!! We had an amazing day at minsterley show, smiles all round and lots of discussions. We raised an amazing £192.20 for Shropshire Rural Support which is an amazing cause. We love to give back to our clients as we aren’t just your vets were (hopefully!) your friends too. Thanks for supporting us, we have a new vet starting in the near future so please be on your best behaviour (for now!).

🦠 Bluetongue BTV is on the rise 🐑🐄

We’re seeing more cases of Bluetongue being reported each day, making it more important than ever for livestock keepers to stay vigilant.

If you notice any signs of illness in your sheep or cattle, contact us as soon as possible. Early diagnosis and prompt treatment can help improve an animal’s chances of recovery.

💉 Vaccination remains the best way to protect your flock and herd against Bluetongue and reduce the impact of the disease.

🚜🐄 – 24 Hours in Farming 2026 🐑🌾

Today we’re celebrating by sharing a glimpse into life as a farm-only veterinary practice.

These photos from the last seven months capture just a small part of what we do each day. From routine herd health visits, fertility work and pregnancy scanning, to emergency call-outs, lambing, calvings, TB testing and working alongside our farmers, every day brings something different.

Behind every healthy animal is a strong partnership between farmers and vets. Together, we work to promote excellent animal health and welfare, helping to produce safe, high-quality food while supporting the future of British farming.

This week we’ve had Arthur from Harper & Keele Veterinary School with us at the practice for his work placement.

He’s been out with the team every day, getting a real insight into what life as a farm vet is all about. From practising pregnancy scanning in cows to vasectomising tups, he’s thrown himself into every opportunity.

We’re delighted he’s enjoyed his time with us so much that he’s already booked to come back next year. We look forward to having you back, Arthur!

💧 Provide fresh drinking water
🌡️ Avoid transporting animals when temperatures exceed 30°C
🌬️ Maximise ventilation by reducing stocking densities and transporting fewer animals where possible
