This is Streuth the frilled neck lizard 🦎
A member of the public found him next to the road, presumably hit by a car.
He was transferred to NQ Wildlife Care who examined him and found substantial bruising around his face. He was unable to open his right eye or his mouth.
The concern was jaw fractures, so he was taken for a radiograph at Greencross Vets Aitkenvale (legends) with WildHaven’s Dr Taleta. Great news: no fractures! And how cool are his X-rays? Just soft tissue injuries and a big headache for Streuth. Even better news, he is recovering well with supportive care. His eye is open and he is opening his mouth again! 💚
We are so close to opening the doors at WildHaven, and we can’t wait to start caring for wildlife just like Streuth.
A huge THANK YOU to everyone who has joined the WildHaven 5000. For just $2 a week, you’re helping us treat injured and sick wildlife right here in North Queensland.
