Some of you may remember Sarah from our latest newsletter.

Long before she became one of our veterinary nurses, she was here as a work experience student.

After completing her Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing in December 2025, she officially joined the team! It's been such a pleasure to watch her confidence, knowledge and skills grow over that time.

Sarah has a particular interest in reptiles and makes a special effort to offer the best possible care to every patient who comes through our doors. Outside of work, she loves spending time with her kids, escaping on the occasional weekend getaway and unwinding with a bit of cooking and baking.

Tick paralysis is a serious risk and prevention is key!

We’re seeing an increase in concern around tick paralysis in our area, with several cases requiring advanced veterinary support. Unfortunately, we also found a tick on a patient in clinic just last night.

Tick paralysis can progress rapidly and can become life-threatening. The good news is that prevention is far easier than treating a severe case.

Year-long tick prevention is one of the best ways to protect your pet. Don’t wait for “tick season” (ticks are active all year long) or warmer weather (https://eamc.vet/?s=Tick&submit=).

Radiographs are an incredibly valuable diagnostic tool, not just for our pets, but for our wildlife patients too!

They allow our veterinary team to look beneath the surface and assess bones, joints and internal structures without the need for invasive procedures.

For wildlife, radiographs can be especially helpful when investigating injuries such as fractures, trauma or suspected foreign objects. They give us a clearer picture of what’s happening and help guide the most appropriate treatment and rehabilitation plan.

Every image can provide an important piece of the puzzle when it comes to helping our wildlife patients get back on their feet…or wings!
