❄️ WINTER ESSENTIALS ❄️

As the temperatures drop, our furry family members can feel the cold just as much as we do. Winter can be especially challenging for senior pets, tiny companions, and those with arthritis or other health conditions.

Here are a few simple ways to help keep them cosy this winter:

🐾 Provide a warm, comfortable bed away from cold floors and draughts.
🐾 Bring pets indoors during cold snaps whenever possible.
🐾 Keep them gently active with regular walks and play to help support healthy joints.
🐾 Consider a cosy jacket for short-haired, small or elderly pets when heading outside.
🐾 Watch for signs of stiffness, reluctance to move, or changes in behaviour, as these can be signs they’re feeling the cold.

If you think your pet is struggling this winter, we’re here to help. From arthritis management and pain relief to joint supplements and tailored treatment plans, our team can help keep your best friend comfortable all season long. 💙

☎️ Give us a call to book a check-up or chat with our team.

Meet Karina! 🐾

As our Head Veterinary Nurse, Karina is the driving force behind our incredible nursing team. 🩺

With nearly two decades of veterinary nursing experience since 2008, Karina brings a wealth of knowledge, skill, and compassion to her role as Head Veterinary Nurse.

Much of her time is spent behind the scenes mentoring our nursing team, supporting staff development, solving problems, and helping ensure every patient receives exceptional care. While you may not see her at reception very often, her impact is felt throughout the clinic every day.

Outside of work, Karina enjoys spending time with her three children, her very patient husband, a puppy named Nessie, and seven chickens. She’s also a passionate cook and hobby baker who loves creating delicious meals and sweet treats for family and friends. 🧁🐶🐔

We’re proud to have Karina leading our nursing team and helping us deliver outstanding care to our patients and clients. 💙🐾

Ear infections are one of the most common reasons dogs and cats visit the vet. Catching the signs early can help prevent pain and more serious problems.

Keep an eye out for:
🐾 Frequent head shaking
🐾 Scratching or rubbing at the ears
🐾 Red, inflamed or swollen ears
🐾 A bad smell coming from the ears
🐾 Brown, yellow or black discharge
🐾 Pain when the ears are touched
🐾 Holding their head to one side
🐾 Whining, seeming irritable or not wanting their ears handled

While ear infections are more common in dogs, cats can get them too!

If you notice any of these signs, it’s best to book your pet in for an examination. Ear infections won’t usually clear up on their own, and the right treatment depends on what’s causing the problem.

📞 Give us a call to book an appointment if you think your furry friend might have an ear infection. Early treatment means happier ears and a happier pet! 🐶🐱💙

Meet Jac! 🐾

Many of our clients will already know Jac, who has been a valued part of the Fletcher Vet team since 2011! With over a decade of experience at the clinic, Jac has helped care for countless pets and built wonderful relationships with their families along the way.

Jac is also our Puppy Preschool Trainer and loves helping new puppy owners get started on the right paw. She enjoys sharing her knowledge and supporting families as they navigate all the fun (and chaos!) that comes with raising a puppy. 🐶🎓

When she’s not at work, Jac is busy with her husband, their two boys, and their menagerie of animals! From dogs and cats to horses, pigs, snakes, and more, there’s never a dull moment at home. 🐴🐷🐍

You can often find Jac around the clinic, so be sure to say hello next time you’re in! 💙🐾
