Good morning all
Well, the weather isn't going to be kind to us at Electra Reserve. It will be soggy underfoot and raining off and on. I'd suggest you have the morning off and practise some puppy push-ups in the family room instead.

On Friday, Saturday and Sunday, I attended the Wangaratta Kennel & Obedience Dog Club shows, and the Wodonga Kennel Club shows. Each club held one show each day, so a total of six shows.
In every show, Zevenhek Precious Ruby won Dobermann Baby Puppy Bitch, and Dobermann Baby Puppy.
Very disappointingly, Wodonga did not provide ribbons for classes, which is against Dogs Victoria show regulations, and apparently quite a number of people complained and rightly so.
Wangaratta Kennel & Obedience Club were very generous and offered people their ribbons as a substitute as Wodonga didn’t supply them, but I wanted the Wodonga ones. Wodonga were happy to take your money but not supply the ribbons you are entitled to.
Overall it was a great three days. The grounds are fabulous, the shows ran smoothly, and rhe catering offered was excellent and delicious.

I was in the process of stacking her for the photo, when a dog got offleash and raced across near us, so neither of us are in the correct position.

See you at training Sunday 3rd with more Mothers Day raffle prizes

Is your pet healthy? Here’s a visual guide to help you decide.

Maintaining your pet's ideal weight is critical for longevity and disease prevention, starting with a simple visual check from above.

Assessing your pet's health begins with a simple bird's-eye view. When looking down at your dog or cat from above, a healthy animal should display a clear, discernible waist behind the ribs, creating an hourglass silhouette.

If your pet's sides are straight or bulging outward into an oval shape, it is likely they are carrying excess weight. This visual 'waistline test' is one of the most reliable ways for owners to monitor body condition between veterinary visits, as subtle changes in shape often precede more obvious physical limitations.

Beyond aesthetics, maintaining an ideal body condition score is vital for preventing chronic conditions such as osteoarthritis, type 2 diabetes, and respiratory issues. In addition to the visual check, you should be able to feel your pet's ribs under a thin layer of fat without having to press firmly. Proactive weight management can significantly extend a pet's lifespan and improve their daily quality of life. If your pet lacks a visible waist or their ribs are difficult to locate, consulting with a veterinarian for a tailored nutrition and exercise plan is the essential next step.
