🧠 All of us should want our dogs to think (and feel) "𝗙𝗨𝗖𝗞 𝗬𝗘𝗦!" when we cue them to perform certain behaviours.
💡 When it comes to producing behaviours that are 𝘵𝘳𝘶𝘭𝘺 reliable in the real world (read challenging, dynamic environments and situations) that 𝗙𝗨𝗖𝗞 𝗬𝗘𝗦 attitude from the dog is a very important piece of that puzzle to aim for.
💰 Whilst 𝗙𝗨𝗖𝗞 𝗬𝗘𝗦 certainly has a genetic component to it, ultimately it's a function of the quality of training that you invest in that dog.
🎥 Bearing in mind that short videos don't show the whole picture by any means, consider what it means when you see dog trainers rarely posting any work that shows 𝗙𝗨𝗖𝗞 𝗬𝗘𝗦 attitudes in the dogs they train. If you seldom see it in what they share, then that's most likely because that trainer simply isn't skilled enough to produce those outcomes.
⚠️ Watch many of the businesses out there on social media that push 'fix all' board and train solutions, particularly over shorter time frames like 3wks, and you'll tend not to see much 𝗙𝗨𝗖𝗞 𝗬𝗘𝗦. This is because F𝗨𝗖𝗞 𝗬𝗘𝗦 is about high repetitions involving high level reinforcers that the dog is deeply excited about - and in this regard mere weeks just won't cut it for the vast majority of dogs.
🚫 If you're following somebody developing a puppy and their work is not heavily focussed on 𝗙𝗨𝗖𝗞 𝗬𝗘𝗦, then you're what you're seeing isn't good work.
👉 Quality dog training is 𝗡𝗢𝗧 just about training for action. It's also about training dogs for abstinence. 𝗙𝗨𝗖𝗞 𝗡𝗢 is not without it's importance in developing a dog to it's fullest potential, and can't be overlooked.
🗣Training that focuses heavily on 𝗙𝗨𝗖𝗞 𝗡𝗢 is very, very unlikely to ever produce a profoundly 𝗙𝗨𝗖𝗞 𝗬𝗘𝗦 attitude.
🙏 The more 𝗙𝗨𝗖𝗞 𝗬𝗘𝗦 your dog brings to your work together, the less 𝗙𝗨𝗖𝗞 𝗡𝗢 you will need, and the less the 𝗙𝗨𝗖𝗞 𝗡𝗢 you do need will affect the 𝗙𝗨𝗖𝗞 𝗬𝗘𝗦 that your dog possesses.
