🕊️ With a heavy heart I say I love you and thank you to beautiful Kirra. Enjoy the forever fun and sunshine with all of your friends, our beloved babies awaiting you 🌈
Kirra came to me at the age of 3. She had bounced around 5 foster homes prior to us finding each other: heavily medicated due to dog aggression, escaping yards, attacking a sheep and being unsuitable with other small animals.
Thank you to Caroline Southwell for entrusting me with Kirra to have her best interest at heart, to see through the surface struggles and offer her the full life she deserved.
With the help of my first boy Axel, we identified that Kirra simply did not understand dog body language and social cues. Over the next 3 years we developed her skills and built up her confidence to trust my guidance and relieve her anxious need to take control.
The successes achieved with Kirra and Axel are the reason I became a Behavioural Trainer, why I'm committed to supporting owners with anxious, reactive and misunderstood dogs. There are no fast fixes, but with patience, commitment and trust in the process, lives can be changed.
By age 6 Kirra was a dependable dog helping to support other reactive dogs. Kirra was able to run free off lead, no muzzle at dog beaches, dog parks, camping, boating and hiking. With my interest in Scent Detection and desire to develop my own scent detection dog, Kirra made it clear she just wanted to be a companion.
To be fair and allow her to live the life she desired, Kirra joined Lyn in her own time of need to share love and companionship on her farm and travelling the East Coast together.
I couldn't be more greatful to Lyn for opening her heart and home to Kirra, who became so social that she often had her doggy friends escape their yards to come and hang out with her on the farm for the day!
Kirra returned home last year due to circumstances beyond control, Lyn knowing Kirra would be in loving care when she was unable to be there for her. Unfortunately her health began to decline in the last few weeks and yesterday it was clear the time had come. Celebrating her 13th birthday in June, it's safe to say Kirra was able to live a long and fulfilled life. Thank you to everyone who has played a part in Kirra's journey. She has provided so much to so many, dogs and humans alike, and the memories we have shared will forever be in our hearts ❤️🐾🐾
