Land & Legacy. Cheers to the Pueblo Mountain Park! To all that you were, all that you are, and all you have yet to be. Here’s a glimpse into some special moments from the night. This is community at work! This event wouldn’t have been possible without the support and involvement from our wonderful community. To the women of the Pueblo Food Project, thank you so much for the labor put into the planning, organizing and ensuring the night ran smoothly and the event was a success. Thank you to the Beulah Inn, Bingo Burger, and Little Bite of Heaven for providing great eats. Thank you to the Porch Puppies for great live music. And thank you to every sponsor and attendee. Hello,

We are incredibly excited to see you TONIGHT, Friday, September 25th at the Union Depot for the Land & Legacy: Resilience and Recovery benefit! As we gear up for a great evening, we wanted to send a quick update regarding check-in, happenings, and seating.

No Physical Tickets Needed: We are utilizing a paperless check-in process. As a ticket purchaser, your name is securely on our master guest list at the door.

Seating Arrangements: The event will feature a mix of open-format seating and reserved tables. Any specific table assignments will be provided to you when you check in.

Sponsor Seating: If your tickets are part of an event sponsorship package, your group will have a reserved table to ensure you are all seated together.

This will be an evening to remember, with Bingo Burger as the main chef, Beulah Inn providing appetizers, and Little Bite of Heaven rounding out the evening with dessert. We are also so grateful to Andy Koen for Emceeing for us.

We are excited to share that we will have raptors at the event during the welcoming hour, and the live auction items include:

~ A weekend getaway in Aspen
~ A raptor release
~ A brand new E-Bike

Tonight is a powerful opportunity for our community to stand together, showing that NWDC remains the proud steward of the park and the leader of its ongoing rebuilding efforts. We are grateful for your presence during an evening of fundraising to ensure that future generations will still have a place to learn, explore, and fall in love with the outdoors.

🐦 Coming up THIS SATURDAY, 9/26: Join the Arkansas Valley Audubon Society at the Nature & Wildlife Discovery Center River Campus for an enjoyable outing to view and identify a variety of birds. Suitable for families and birders of all levels. BYOB! Bring Your Own Binoculars.

🪑 There will be an optional ‘Big Sit” at every 4th Saturday bird walk! Those who can’t or don’t want to walk can sit comfortably in one place. Let the birds come to us!

With luck, Ash the Flammulated Owl should currently be strengthening his wings, hunting, and learning from other adult Flammulated Owls in his new home forest near Woodland Park. By next month, he will embark on the biggest adventure of his life so far — migration to Central America!

We sure miss him, but we are happy knowing that he is back where he truly belongs: in the wild. And we are grateful to have so many cute photos and videos to look back on.

💚 It is our continued mission to rehabilitate more raptors just like Ash, who are injured, ill, or orphaned. We have hundreds of patients every year, and sometimes, we can barely keep up! 🌿 Roll Up Your Sleeves for Runyon to the Res!

Spend a morning outdoors and help give back to a place Coloradans love to get outside. Registration for the 8th Annual Runyon to the Res has been extended through September 24.

Join NWDC (Zone 4!) and the Colorado Lottery on Saturday, October 3, from 9 a.m.–1 p.m. in Pueblo and help clean an 8-mile stretch of the Arkansas River Trail between Runyon Lake and Lake Pueblo State Park.

Registered volunteers receive free breakfast, lunch, and an event T-shirt. Just bring your work gloves, reusable water bottle, and community spirit!

Volunteers ages 6+ are welcome. No walk-ups will be available, so be sure to register by September 24.

The destruction of our Mountain Campus in the Aspen Acres Fire was devastating. But, our spirits endure, and we are more focused on our mission than ever before.

Located on the banks of the Arkansas River, the NWDC River Campus is an oasis within the city of Pueblo, CO where you can hike, cast your line, bike the smoothly paved American Bicycle Trail System, or view majestic birds of prey up close at the Raptor Center.

Here, we are happy to provide a variety of facilities available to rent for corporate events, birthdays, reunions, day-retreats, community events, baby showers, weddings, and more. Pictured here is our beautiful Riverfront Room & Patio.

Each rental directly supports NWDC’s conservation efforts, educational programming for children, and wildlife rehabilitation efforts for injured birds of prey. We would be honored to host your next event!

Temporary closure of the Carhart Trail: Please note that Carhart Trail at the Mountain Campus will be closed to the public, starting Monday, May 2nd for maintenance. The trail will reopen to the public on Friday, May 6th. Thank you for respecting the closure, the work crew appreciates it!

IMPORTANT UPDATE FOR ALL NWDC PATRONS: Due to unsafe weather conditions, for the safety of the staff and the public, NWDC has decided to close the Mountain Campus at the Pueblo Mountain Park for today, April 12th, 2022. This includes the park gates and office. We expect to reopen the roads and office tomorrow April 13th, at our normal time of opening.
