Remember...

It’s natural to want to help, but in most cases, the best thing you can do is look but don’t touch. Mother cats often leave their kittens temporarily to search for food. Wait and watch from a distance. If you can, check back periodically and allow up to 8 hours for Mom to return. Kittens have the best chance of survival with their mother, so it’s critical they remain in her care whenever possible.

Once the kittens are eight weeks old, contact us to get the whole family spayed/neutered. (If the cats aren’t tame, call 602.265.SPAY for help with Trap-Neuter-Return.) Then, ask your friends, family and neighbors if they’d like to adopt a loving, fixed feline!

Sometimes, the best way to help a pet is to help them get back home. 🧡

Through our Project Away From Home program, pets like Storm are placed with temporary Foster Heroes while their families navigate a grid. They are not available to adopt. They just need somewhere cozy to land in the meantime.

Not every foster pet is listed on our website. If you’d specifically like to help a pet through this program, sign up and let our Foster Matchmakers know. They’ll help match you with a pet whose needs and timeline work for you.

Before every pet can head home, there’s one important step: getting spayed or neutered. During our busiest adoption months, our medical teams hold “Super Surgery” days where our partners come in to help spay and neuter even more pets and get them adoption-ready faster.

Thanks to the generous support of the Mug-Z-Moo Foundation and our friends at Trusted Paws, thousands of pets go home healthy, happy and help break the cycle of pet overpopulation. 🧡

From an emaciated stray to a 10-year-old lap dog living his best life. 🥹🧡

When Sig, a senior Great Dane, arrived at the Arizona Humane Society, he was extremely malnourished and in desperate need of care. In a loving foster home, he slowly gained back healthy weight and, along the way, his true personality began to shine.

Today, Sig is thriving in his forever home, where his favorite activity is trying to fit all of himself onto someone’s lap. 🥰

Now, you can help give another pet like Sig the same second chance.
