Ophelia has officially decided that working at Fishtown Animal Hospital is NOT for her. Apparently, the hours interfere with her nap schedule, the benefits don’t include unlimited snacks, and she has absolutely no interest in answering phones. 🙄🐶

🐾 HOLIDAY WEEKEND HOURS 🐾

Our team gives so much of themselves every day to care for the pets and people who walk through our doors. ❤️

To give them some well-deserved time to rest, recharge, and enjoy the Labor Day weekend, Fishtown Animal Hospital will close at 5 PM today and reopen Tuesday morning at 9 AM.

We’re so grateful for our incredible team — and for all of you who trust us with the animals you love.

Sometimes a butterfly is just a butterfly.

And sometimes, it feels like someone you love finding their way back to you. 🦋

This monarch was visiting our flowers outside Fishtown Animal Hospital, planted by our friends at Enliven Planters, just days before August 28th — the anniversary of Dr. Cohn helping her heart dog, Mr. Kane, cross the Rainbow Bridge.

“Monarchs have meant something different to me since losing him.

One of the first times I truly felt like Kane was visiting me, a monarch appeared at midnight, in the rain, while I was standing under a red umbrella. He stayed for hours while I sat there in the rain.

It made absolutely no sense for him to be there.

And yet… there he was. 🦋

Since then, monarchs seem to find me when I need them most.”

No one really talks enough about what pet loss does to you.

There is no timeline for grief.

It can be 6 days.
It can be 7 years.

You can be completely okay one minute and suddenly miss them so fiercely it takes your breath away the next.

And sometimes, in the middle of all of that, there’s a sign.

A butterfly.
A song at exactly the right moment.
A dream.
A feather.
A familiar sound.

Something you can’t explain, but somehow you just know.

Maybe you believe they’re really visiting us. Maybe you believe love simply makes us notice the things we need most. Either way, there can be so much comfort in those moments.

So when this little monarch showed up outside the hospital this morning, the team noticed.

And for a few minutes, it felt like hello. 🦋🌈
