WE HAVE NEWS! NEW SCENT WORK CLASSES NOW AVAILABLE.
Classes are starting on Tuesday, June 16th, running a 5-week session (6/16, 6/23, 6/30, 7/7, 7/14) at Brookside Park. Class will begin at 6:45 pm. Class applications will be posted on the Pasanita.com website for download. Full class information is on the main/home page of our website. Click on the green box at the bottom of the page "Scent Work Class" for the application. We will also have applications on the first night. Whether students are pursuing competition goals or simply looking for an engaging activity to share with their dogs, the foundational skills taught in class provide a strong basis for long-term success.
"The sport of Scent Work is based on the work of professional detection dogs (such as drug dogs), employed by humans to detect a wide variety of scents and substances. In AKC Scent Work, dogs search for cotton swabs saturated with the essential oils of Birch, Anise, Clove, and Cypress. The cotton swabs are hidden out of sight in a predetermined search area, and the dog has to find them. Teamwork is necessary: when the dog finds the scent, he has to communicate the find to the handler, who calls it out to the judge."
