Gio is enjoying the rain free day! Like any puppy, he is curious and is testing his teeth. At GPP Dog Training, I have eyes on any dog training/boarding with me 24/7. Puppies cannot be left unsupervised. If you can’t have eyes on them, crate and play pen will be your best friend. It’s more about their safety than about losing a sock. That missing sock could cost you a pricey vet visit and even the life of your new best friend.

Dawson has completed his first 5 classes! All tailored towards his reactivity at anything that moved or got too close to him. Nonstop barking. Pulling. You name it. The first 2 weeks I focused on building up his confidence at my location in a low environment. Week 3 I took his learning out to the park. He was no longer barking or pulling but curious about what was going on around him. Week 5 and he has learned one of the hardest commands…staying. Human moving away. He is outside! So proud of him! Lets see what another 5 classes can do 💪🏽

Dawson made it to the park! His owner has been doing a wonderful job at keeping up with her homework at home. Dawson transitioned from a low rich environment to a high rich environment where his problems come out. So proud of his accomplishments and being able to stay engaged with his owner.

Are you struggling with your dog on walks? A straightforward advice: bring yummy treats! (PS: Probably won't work if your dog is reactive and doesn't have any basic training) This is a great way to engage your puppy or very social dog on walks. It gives them something yummy to smell and look forward to. Redirecting attention doesn't have to be super difficult. Try a yummy deli meat or cheese. Not food motivated? Take their favorite toy on a walk.
