We’re excited to introduce you to one of the amazing members of our veterinary team! ❤️

When Anna isn’t caring for our furry patients, you’ll most likely find her spending time with friends and family. And here’s a fun fact you may not know… Anna can play the flute!

Her favorite part of being a CVT is nursing sick patients back to health and helping them feel better, while also educating pet parents about animal health and wellness. We’re so grateful for the compassion and dedication she brings to every patient and family she cares for!

If Anna weren’t working in veterinary medicine, she thinks she’d enjoy working in a bakery decorating cakes—because it sounds relaxing! 🎂😊

And her dream pet? A Sphynx cat! 🐱💕

We’re so lucky to have Anna on our team! Be sure to say hello the next time you see her! 🐾❤️

🐾💙 National Certified Veterinary Technician Week Spotlight: Bianca! 💙🐾

This week, we’re celebrating our amazing CVTs—and today, we’re shining the spotlight on Bianca! 🩺🐾

Bianca recently stepped into the role of Practice Manager, but that hasn’t stopped her from putting her CVT skills to work around the clinic! She brings her veterinary knowledge, experience, and passion for helping others to everything she does.

Her favorite part of being both a CVT and Practice Manager is watching our team learn, grow, and develop their skills. She loves seeing staff gain confidence and become the best veterinary professionals they can be. 💙

When she’s not at the clinic, Bianca enjoys going to concerts, attending Bloomington Bison games, and getting lost in a good book. 📚🎶 And speaking of books… here’s a fun fact: she has already read/listened to 45 books this year! 🤯📖

Please join us in celebrating Bianca for National Certified Veterinary Technician Week! We’re so lucky to have her dedication, knowledge, leadership, and love for veterinary medicine on our team. 💙🐾

What Does a Certified Veterinary Technician (CVT) Do?

Our Certified Veterinary Technicians are an essential part of the veterinary care team! 🐶🐱 They do so much more than assist during appointments. CVTs are trained veterinary professionals who play a vital role in keeping your pets healthy, safe, and comfortable. ❤️

Here are just a few of the things our CVTs do every day:

🩺 Patient Care: Monitor vital signs, assess comfort, and provide compassionate nursing care.

🔬 Diagnostics: Collect blood, urine, and f***l samples and assist with laboratory testing.

💊 Treatments & Medications: Administer medications, vaccines, and other treatments as directed by the veterinarian.

🏥 Anesthesia & Surgery: Monitor patients during anesthesia, assist with surgical procedures, and support recovery.

📚 Client Education: Help pet owners understand medication instructions, home care, and preventive health recommendations.

🐾 Safety & Comfort: Recognize signs of pain or distress and help ensure every patient receives safe, compassionate care.

🎓 CVTs complete specialized education and credentialing requirements to develop the skills needed to provide high-quality veterinary nursing care. They work closely with veterinarians to support diagnoses, treatment plans, and the overall well-being of every patient.

💙 At SmartVet, we appreciate the knowledge, dedication, and compassion our CVTs bring to the clinic every day. Their work makes a meaningful difference in the lives of pets and the people who love them!

🐾💙 Celebrating Sarah for Certified Veterinary Technician Week! 💙🐾

This week, we’re shining a spotlight on Sarah, one of the amazing CVTs who makes such a difference for our patients, clients, and team!

✨ A little about Sarah:
🥾 Outside of work, she loves hiking with her dog, going on bicycle rides, and tackling escape rooms.
🎓 Fun fact: Sarah went back to school to become a CVT at 32 years old — proving it’s never too late to chase a new dream!
🩺 Her favorite part of being a CVT: Working in surgery and helping shy, scared pets build their confidence and learn to trust.
💐 If she weren’t working in veterinary medicine, Sarah would love to be a florist.
🐱 Her dream pet? A beautiful Maine C**n!

We’re so grateful for Sarah’s compassion, dedication, and the special care she gives to every pet she works with. Thank you for all you do, Sarah! 💙🐾

🐱💚 National Feral Cat Day 💚🐱

Today we’re celebrating feral and community cats and the people who work tirelessly to help them! 🐾

Feral cats may be cautious around people, but that doesn’t mean they don’t deserve care, compassion, and a safe environment. ❤️

One of the most important ways we can help community cats is through Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR). TNR helps reduce the number of unwanted litters while allowing cats to remain in the environments they know.

🐾 Spay and neuter
🐾 Provide appropriate food and clean water
🐾 Offer safe shelter when possible
🐾 Keep an eye out for illness or injury
🐾 Work with local animal welfare organizations and veterinary professionals

Whether you care for a colony, volunteer with a rescue, or simply look out for a neighborhood cat, every act of compassion makes a difference. 🐈💚

Let’s celebrate the people who care for community cats—and the cats who call our neighborhoods home!

🐾💚 National Pet Obesity Awareness Day 💚🐾

Our pets bring so much joy to our lives—and keeping them at a healthy weight is one of the best ways we can show them how much we care! 🐶🐱

Extra weight can affect your pet’s mobility, energy, and overall health. Even a few extra pounds can make a difference, especially for smaller pets.

Today is a great reminder to:
🐾 Keep treats and table scraps in moderation
🐾 Make time for daily exercise and play
🐾 Follow appropriate feeding portions
🐾 Schedule regular wellness checkups
🐾 Talk with your veterinarian if you’re unsure about your pet’s ideal weight

Remember, a healthy weight isn’t about how your pet looks—it’s about helping them live a happy, active life for years to come. ❤️

Give your furry friend an extra play session today! 🐕🎾🐈
