WE NEED A WEB PERSON WHO LOVES CATS.

PACFR is a tiny feline rescue with a tiny budget, and right now most of our time goes where it should — caring for vulnerable cats and kittens.

But our website needs help.

We are looking for someone willing to donate a little time to help us improve it, clean it up, and make it work better for the public and the felines we serve.

You do not need to be a seasoned professional. A student, beginner, portfolio-builder, retired developer, or experienced WordPress person looking to give something back could be a perfect fit.

If you know WordPress, PHP, HTML, CSS — or enough to be dangerous in a good way — we would love to hear from you.

Your work may never purr, but it can still help save a life.

📢 IMPORTANT — If you've reached out to me through Nextdoor "PM" for any reason, please switch to EMAIL going forward. Nextdoor messaging is unreliable and I don't want to miss anyone who needs help.

Email me: [email protected] — I get my emails. With Nextdoor and private/business accounts, it is horrible at letting me keep up and I have lost several people in the chaos!

💔 Hi folks — I have to do something I never thought I'd have to do, and it breaks my heart. But it is for the good of the whole.

I need to rehome one of my cats. Her name is Cora. 🐱

Cora came to us as a rescue baby at about 4 weeks old, along with 5 siblings. All six were in perfect health — which, in feline rescue work, is genuinely surprising. She grew up here with her brothers and sisters, and we found loving homes for two of them. Those two are now beautiful, thriving cats living with a family of two daughters—one cat per daughter—and we still stay in touch with that family now and then. 🏡

🐾 Cora is a sweet, loving cat. She is 3 years old. She deserves a calm, peaceful home — and honestly, that is something she is not getting here right now. Her brother Bear has become aggressive toward her and toward Rosie, chasing them with intent to harm. On top of that, Cora has had ongoing tension with my oldest cat, Annabelle. While Cora has backed down from Annabelle and the situation has de-escalated, they still get into chases. The stress of this environment is not fair to Cora, and finding her a loving home where she can finally relax is the right thing to do.

There is no clear explanation for any of this. Cora has lived here since she was 4 weeks old. She currently lives with 7 other cats. Her siblings, Dusty and Rosie, are not aggressive toward anyone. But the dynamic in this house has shifted, and Cora is caught in the middle of it through no fault of her own. 😔

✅ Here is what you should know about Cora:

💉 She is spayed, microchipped, fully vaccinated, healthy, and SNAP-tested negative. She uses her litter box without issue. Her routine is wet food in the morning and treats around bedtime. Churu-style treats are reserved for special occasions — training or helping her get comfortable with something new, like a cat tree or scratch post. Cora handles everyday changes just fine. Major disruptions are harder for her, as they are for most cats, because felines are cautious by nature. Patience goes a long way. 🙏

🚪 She is cautious around new people, but that wears off with time — no surprises there. We fully expect her to need time to acclimate to a new home and new people, and that is completely normal. Like all of our cats, she hides when the doorbell rings. That is just who they are, and honestly, it is not a bad thing — cats that are cautious about doors and the outdoors are less likely to try to slip outside. Cora, like most felines, is also careful about going through doorways or into spaces she has never been before. That is basic feline instinct and nothing to be concerned about.

👨‍👩‍👧 Cora is fine around kids, but very young children are not a good fit. She needs kids who know how to respect a cat's boundaries. An adult household or a home with older, respectful children would be ideal.

🏠 Cora needs a calm, stable home without young kittens or a cat that will bully her. She has so much love to give the right person or family, and she has never had the chance to just be at peace.

📸 We have photos of her from her baby days all the way through adulthood — she has grown into a beautiful cat.

💌 If you think you might be the right fit, or if you know someone who could be, please reach out. Cora deserves the world. 🌍🐾

⚠️ SCAM ALERT — MENASHA/FOX VALLEY AREA ⚠️

I was targeted by a sophisticated fraud ring through Nextdoor last week and I want to warn everyone in this community before it happens to you. These people are professionals. They are organized. And they almost got me for $35,000.

HERE'S HOW IT WORKS:

Step 1 — Someone responds to your For Sale listing. Seems normal, friendly, interested.

Step 2 — They immediately ask you to "text my wife/husband" because they "don't use Nextdoor." THIS IS THE RED FLAG. They are moving you off this platform on purpose so there is no record and no protection.

Step 3 — Once they have your cell number, they build trust over a day or two. Normal conversation. They confirm they want the item. They ask for your PayPal email.

Step 4 — You receive a FAKE PayPal email from a Gmail address (NOT from paypal.com) claiming your account is restricted. Here is your FIRST and BIGGEST clue that something is wrong: the email does NOT use your name. It says "Dear Customer" or "Dear Esteemed Customer" — NOT your first and last name. REAL PayPal emails ALWAYS address you by your full name. If you don't see your name at the top, STOP. It is a scam.

Step 5 — The fake email gives you a FAKE PayPal customer support number. You call it and get a real person — a scammer running a call center — who walks you through sending money back to them via Chime, Zelle, or CashApp as a supposed "security deposit."

Step 6 — Once you comply, they go for the real score. In my case they tried to get me to wire $35,000 to a bank account.

I caught it. I stopped it. But not before losing $500.

HOW TO PROTECT YOURSELF:
✅ "Text my wife/husband" = SCAM. Every time. No exceptions. Stay on Nextdoor.
✅ Real PayPal emails ALWAYS use your full name — "Dear John Smith." "Dear Customer" = SCAM. Stop right there.
✅ Real PayPal emails ONLY come from .com — NEVER from Gmail or any other address
✅ PayPal will NEVER ask you to send money in order to receive money. Ever.
✅ Never use a customer support number someone gives you — always look it up yourself at paypal.com
✅ Zelle, Chime, CashApp, and Bitcoin cannot be reversed — once it's gone, it's gone

I have filed reports with the FBI (ic3.gov), FTC, and am pursuing this legally. The fraudulent Nextdoor account used was "Corey Krueger." If you have had ANY contact with this account, report it to Nextdoor immediately and contact me.

Please share this post. It could save someone in this community from losing their savings.
