If you can no longer look after your cat for whatever reason, PLEASE surrender them to a shelter, vet, emergency hospital, Rescue, find a responsible new owner, etc...... But dumping them is the same as killing them..... 💔

🖤🎃 HALLOWEEN BLACK CAT ALERT 🎃🖤

Every October, black cats face a danger most people never think about. Too many black felines have been found badly injured or dead around this holiday, harmed by people who fear them, see them as "props," or act on SICK BELIEFS.

We will NOT let that happen to the cats in our care.

⚠️ Effective now through November 15th, Paws And Claws Feline Rescue is PAUSING ALL BLACK CAT ADOPTIONS. No exceptions. Applications received during this period will be held and reviewed after November 15th.

If you have a black cat at home:
🐾 Keep them INDOORS, especially the week of Halloween
🐾 Keep them away from the front door during trick-or-treating
🐾 Make sure they're microchipped and the chip info is current
🐾 Report anyone asking around for black cats or offering to "take them off your hands"

To anyone who would hurt an animal out of fear, superstition, or so-called "beliefs": there's nothing spiritual about cruelty. Animal cruelty is a crime, and it will be reported.

# STACHE & TUX NEED A HOME — AGAIN. 💔
Two brothers. One bond. One more chance at forever.

Sometimes life takes an unexpected turn, and through no fault of their own, two wonderful cats find themselves needing a new home.

Stache and Tux, two beautiful tuxedo brothers who were adopted together from Paws And Claws Feline Rescue, Inc. (PACFR), are coming back into our care.

Their adoptive family's apartment was badly damaged, forcing them to relocate temporarily. Unfortunately, their new apartment will only permit one cat.

It's a heartbreaking situation for everyone involved. Their family didn't plan for this, and Stache and Tux have done absolutely nothing wrong.

But one thing was never in question.

WE WERE NOT GOING TO ABANDON THEM.

At PACFR, adoption does not mean our responsibility ends when a cat walks out our door.

When we rescue a life, we make a commitment to that life. Not for a few weeks. Not until the paperwork is signed. Not until circumstances become inconvenient.

That commitment lasts a lifetime.

Every feline who comes through PACFR will always have a place in our hearts and a rescue willing to stand behind them. From the moment we take responsibility for their lives until the day they cross the Rainbow Bridge, they will never be forgotten.

That is what rescue means to us.

Stache and Tux need a new loving, stable, permanent home AS SOON AS POSSIBLE.

These two brothers have already been through enough uncertainty. They deserve a home where they can feel safe, loved, and secure again.

Nikki's Story — A Baby Worth Saving

Sometimes, all it takes is one phone call.

A young man named Luke was out walking along a path beside a busy highway when he discovered a tiny orange kitten lying there alone. She was barely alive.

Not knowing where to turn, he searched for help and found Paws And Claws Feline Rescue. He called immediately.

When I arrived, it was obvious Nikki was in critical condition. She wasn't simply sick—she was only hours away from dying.

There wasn't a moment to waste.

I rushed her to BluePearl Animal Hospital, where the emergency team took over immediately. When I first walked through the door, one of the technicians looked at Nikki and believed she had already passed away. Then Nikki made a small movement.

Without hesitation, the technician rushed her into the treatment area, where Dr. Chris immediately began lifesaving care.

Because of the quick actions of Luke, the BluePearl emergency staff, and especially Dr. Chris, Nikki was given the chance she desperately needed.

Today, Nikki is still fighting.

Her emergency care is behind her, and Wellness Veterinary Clinic now manages her ongoing treatment. She continues to improve, although she still has obstacles to overcome. One concern has been a slight drop in weight after she held steady at about 700 grams for several days. Every gram matters with a kitten this small, so we continue to monitor her closely and adjust her care as needed.

Despite everything she has endured, Nikki has an incredible spirit.
She is wonderfully vocal, loves being held, and absolutely melts into your lap. Once she's comfortable, she'll curl up, fall asleep, and make it almost impossible to put her down without feeling guilty for waking her. Even after everything she's survived, she still chooses to trust people.

That says everything about her.

Paws And Claws Feline Rescue is a small 501(c)(3) nonprofit. We do not receive government funding or grants to cover emergency cases like Nikki's. We pay most medical expenses out of pocket, supported only by the generosity of a handful of donors.

Nikki's emergency treatment and ongoing care have already exceeded $2,500, and those expenses continue as she recovers.

We had never met Nikki before that day.

She wasn't "our" kitten.

She had no family to call for help.

She was simply a stray baby who needed someone to say, "We're not giving up on you."

That's what we do. We are the "911" call for felines in distress.

When an injured, abandoned, or critically ill stray has nowhere else to go, we answer the call—day or night—because every life deserves the opportunity to live.

PACFR is a tiny feline rescue with a tiny budget, and right now most of our time goes where it should — caring for vulnerable cats and kittens.

But our website needs help.

We are looking for someone willing to donate a little time to help us improve it, clean it up, and make it work better for the public and the felines we serve.

You do not need to be a seasoned professional. A student, beginner, portfolio-builder, retired developer, or experienced WordPress person looking to give something back could be a perfect fit.
