Right now, what Ember needs most is a home to continue healing in. ❤️

When Ember arrived at IndyHumane, her skin was painfully swollen and irritated, and even taking a few steps was uncomfortable for her. Her owner made the difficult decision to surrender her, knowing her condition had gone untreated for far too long. Our medical team got to work immediately helping her feel comfortable again, and while Ember has already shown incredible improvement, healing from severe dermatitis takes time.

Today, Ember is in much less pain, and every day she’s becoming more comfortable, confident, and happy. She’ll need ongoing care for her skin and ears, including medicated baths and oral medication, but what will help her heal most is a patient, loving home where she can finally rest and feel safe.
Ember can be a little shy at first, but underneath that timid exterior is an incredibly sweet girl just waiting to trust someone again.

We have so many kittens available for adoption at IndyHumane!

While you can absolutely complete an adoption application online ahead of time, all adoptions must be finalized in person. We want you to meet the animal, spend time together, and make sure it’s the perfect fit for your home and lifestyle. ❤️

You can browse all adoptable animals and learn more about each pet before visiting at IndyHumane but to officially adopt, you’ll need to come see us in person!

This sweet 2-year-old girl is looking for a home where she can be your one-and-only furry companion. Dusty is affectionate, loyal, and happiest when she’s right by your side.

She loves car rides, watching the world go by through the window, and soaking up attention from every person she meets. She already knows “sit” and “lay down,” does great relaxing at home with her humans, and absolutely adores kids!

Being a mom is hard work. 😉 Mahjong has been tirelessly looking after all 7 of her kittens!

During puppy and kitten season, foster homes are more important than ever. While we always need people willing to care for tiny puppies and kittens until they’re old enough for adoption, we also often need fosters who can take in momma, too.

Fostering a momma dog or cat with her babies is incredibly rewarding — and honestly, mom usually does most of the work anyway! You provide the safe space, and she provides the parenting skills.

Macaroni was one of the IndyHumane pets who got to enjoy a Pawjama Party this holiday weekend, and we were told he ABSOLUTELY loved his stay! 🐾

These temporary foster opportunities give shelter pets a much-needed break from the shelter environment while helping them relax, recharge, and show off their personalities in a home.

The best part? You don’t have to be an experienced foster to participate! Pawjama Parties are short-term foster opportunities where we match you with a buddy for a holiday weekend and provide everything you need to get started.

Nala is a special girl who is looking for a special home. ❤️

She has Ataxia, which makes her a little wobbly when she walks, but it doesn’t stop her from enjoying playing fetch with a tennis ball, cozy naps, and all the love she can get. She has also officially completed heartworm treatment! 🎉

Her foster says she’s been doing wonderfully at home — sleeping through the night, settling in comfortably, following them around, and being an all-around easygoing companion. While she can get overwhelmed around other dogs on walks, inside the home she’s proven to be such a calm and loving girl.
