Adoptable Estrella is here with an important reminder! IndyHumane will be closed today (Friday, June 19th) in observance of Juneteenth.

While our doors may be closed for the day, we'll be back and ready to help animals and adopters alike beginning tomorrow, June 20th, during our normal business hours.

We hope everyone has a meaningful Juneteenth, and we can't wait to see you back at the shelter tomorrow.

🐾 We are so grateful for how much our community loves our PetSmart adoption events! These events are a fun way for us to bring adoptable pets out into the community and introduce them to potential families who may not have had the chance to visit our shelter yet.

When Brownie first came to IndyHumane, she was suffering. About a week before arriving in our care, she had been hit by a car and was living with a painful fracture in her hip. Despite all the pain she was in, Brownie remained incredibly sweet and trusting with the people trying to help her.

After a thorough evaluation, our medical team determined that the best path forward was an FHO (Femoral Head Ostectomy) surgery to relieve her pain and give her the best chance at a comfortable, happy future. Thanks to the dedicated care of our veterinary team, Brownie underwent surgery and began her road to recovery.

Every day, we have been able to see more of Brownie's personality shine through. As her pain has faded, her joyful spirit has emerged!

We have a fun pupdate from Mama Pez and her puppies!

Since settling into their foster home, this little family has been doing so well. Pez and her babies have made themselves comfortable in a cozy guest room, and we're told the puppies are growing like weeds! Their days are currently filled with all the important puppy activities: eating, sleeping, pooping, and playing. 🥰

While the puppies keep busy growing, Mama Pez has been enjoying a little help from her foster family. She's been soaking up cuddles, enjoying walks, and getting some well-deserved breaks from motherhood whenever she can.

Pez and her puppies came to us after being transferred from Indianapolis Animal Care Services following the investigation of a hoarding situation.

She will continue caring for her puppies until they're fully weaned. Once her mom duties are complete, she'll be spayed and ready to begin her search for a loving home of her own!

We need kitten fosters!

Right now, we have 108 kittens in our care, with more than 30 additional kittens scheduled to arrive this weekend. The reality is simple: we are close to running out of space.

Kitten season is hitting hard, and we need some help!

The good news is that many of these kittens are incredibly easy to care for. They can eat on their own, use the litter box independently, and mostly just need a safe, loving place to stay until they're old enough for adoption.

Billy had a pretty great day on his first Dog Day Out! 🐾

When Billy first meets new people, he likes to put on his tough-guy act. He can be a little nervous and needs some time to figure out if you're friend or foe. But once he realizes you're there to be his buddy, we get to see a whole different Billy come out!

On his recent Dog Day Out, Billy got to meet some new people, explore, and take a break from shelter life. After those initial nerves wore off, he settled in and had a blast. ❤️

Billy is a sensitive guy who's been through a lot of changes lately. He's looking for someone who will give him the time and patience he needs to feel comfortable. Once you earn his trust, you'll get to see the sweet, goofy dog hiding underneath all that bravado.

We loved seeing Billy have such a fun day, and we'd love even more to see him find a home where he can finally relax and be himself.
