The mission of Southside Animal Shelter is to rescue healthy and treatable dogs and cats at risk of euthanasia, nurture and restore them to happy healthy lives in loving homes, and reserve euthanasia for those animals, in a veterinarian's professional opinion, who are in a state of terminal suffering or have been determined aggressive. The Southside Animal Shelter is a 501(c)3 private, independent, nonprofit corporation governed by a volunteer Board of Directors composed of community members who are dedicated to animal welfare. Donations made to national animal welfare groups do not benefit our local pets. 🧡Chevy is a shy, 3 year old, 14lb, Pekingese. She is the best girl, quiet, lower energy, house trained and loving. 🧡

🌻Chevy has been well loved and cared for her whole life and lost her family due to circumstances beyond anyone’s control. 🌻

🍁Chevy has done well with the other animals at the shelter. She is spayed, vaccinated, microchipped, heartworm negative and dewormed. 🍁

She is in a foster home, but her foster can not keep her forever. She will not do well at the shelter with her asthma!

2 years ago, we learned that Lena has feline asthma. Lena was transferred to a loving medical foster home so we could get her medication regimen down, and now that she is regulated on her meds, she is ready to find her forever home!

🌸 Lena is very sweet, affectionate, and playful. She loves to play with wands and solo toys. She uses a horizontal and vertical scratcher very well.

She is easy going & takes her medicine very well. Medicine time requires treats before and after treatments, which she expects. 😊

Her favorite hobby is chatting at birds in the window. She prefers to sleep in a closet or under the bed when foster mom isn’t home. When she’s home she will sleep in her cat tree or on a pillow next to foster mom’s head.❤️

🌸 She a great girl and will make a great addition to her new home!

Lena requires a daily inhaler as well as an emergency albuterol inhaler in the event she were to have a flare up. The ideal home for Lena would be a home with clean air as cigarette smoke, candles, & harsh cleaners could cause an asthmatic flare. A humidifier during the winter months would be beneficial as well.

🍁Isn’t Baloo adorable? 🍁

🧡Baloo is a 7 month old, male, Pomsky (Pomeranian and Husky mix). He currently weighs around 10lbs and we don’t expect him to get more than 15lbs full grown. 🧡

🕸️Baloo is an energetic and spunky guy. He is a big personality in a small package. He has longer legs and enough zest to keep up with you on your walks or maybe even runs. 🕷️

🌻This charming and social guy would do great in an active home or home with another young dog to play with. He has been neutered, vaccinated, microchipped and dewormed. 🌻

He’s a playful, shy-at-first guy who enjoys treats, brushing, and a good nap. Some cats can be unsure of things in a shelter or with a lot of other animals around- and that’s Pinto. He is a super sweet boy, but he will just be so much more comfortable in a home.

Kiki believes there is absolutely no reason you should ignore her, unless she ignores you first. 😂

She really enjoys being loved on, getting treats, and above all… attention. If you’re nearby, she wants you to talk to her! She isn’t exactly clingy, because she does do her own thing- she just really likes people. She also enjoys laundry baskets and catnip toys, and spends a lot of time rolling around happily.

Kiki is ready to find someone who is able and willing to give her all the love that she definitely KNOWS she deserves. 💕

🍎Dusty is a seasoned gentleman, 13 years old and a Pomeranian. He is looking for a retirement home with lots of scratches and a soft place to lie. 🍎

🍁If you are a senior lover, you will love this guy as he is still full of personality. He is good with other dogs and cats and really enjoys his treats. As an older guy, he does have some loss of kidney function and old man ailments. Dusty would much rather spend his retirement with you than living in the shelter. 🍁

Our team is at the store daily from 1–4 PM (closed Sundays) to help with meet-and-greets and adoptions, but applications may be filled out anytime during normal store hours.

Important things to know:
